My name is Mike Dowd. I live in High Point, NC. I have an addiction.
I think I'm going to be OK though, because I've found you. With your help, I beleive the twelve step plan to a better Fiero is going to be my salvation.
I've been lurking here for several months, as is my practice in communities like this, and have learned a great deal from you. I've learned about V-8 conversions, fibergalassing, cleaning techniques, and much more and I thank you.
The first time I sat in a Fiero was in 1983 at a comunity fair. I thought it was by far the coolest car I had ever seen and that opinion has stayed with me ever since. The first car that I bought on my own was a red 1984 2m4 with camel interior and 44k miles on it for $2000 in 1990. I put another 120k on it and sold it for $1500 four years later. Now I'm the proud owner of a less-than-stellar '88 GT. I bought it from the original owner a little more than two years ago and drove it as it was for about 6 months. Then the tranny died and that was that. She's been motionless in my driveway since then.
Things are about to change, however. I've been saving my pennies and I'm hopeful that this fall I'll have enough to ship My Sharona up to Chicago for a short stay at Archie's place. After a chop, LM1 with TPI transplant and a new tranny she'll come back home again and ready to roll. This is step two of twelve .
Step one was admitting that I have an addiction.
This is My Sharona...
And this is what she sees when she looks in the mirror...

Welcome and good luck with your restoration/build up Looks like you can have one sweet looking Fiero that is needing a lot less than many others here had to work with.

Welcome to PFF. I see you went from 1st to last in four years (I.E. model years), jealous that's all. Sounds like a heck of a makeover coming soon. Looking forward to follow the transformation. Boy that's going to cost a pretty penny. But I'm sure it will be worth it. Keep us interested.

So with all these NC fiero folks I can be expecting lots of request for passwords so that you can all add your own personal pages to the www.TarheelFieros.org web site huh!!!!.....
Well, it's official. George Ryan just picked up Sharona and they're of to the windy city. After we got the car loaded up I asked George to stay for dinner and he told me about all of the Fieros he's had and his racing. He really is a wonderful and interesting person.
He's got a great set-up too. He showed me inside the camper on the back of his truck. That thing is awesome! He's got a fridge and TV, a shower and a john, a bed and a kitchenette all right there in the bed of his truck! I was amazed and my two year old son thought it was the coolest thing ever!
His trailer is just as nice as people say. It's enclosed with a six foot ramp and very clean. He carries an air compressor with him (which came in handy because my tires were low from inactivity) and an electric wench to pull the car in. All in all, working with George has been a great experience.
If all goes well, Archie should have Sharona by some time tomorrow evening.

Welcome to the addiction. Yours looks a lot like mine when I started. Its a lot of work to find the jewel in there but work is not work if you are loving what you are doing. Good luck and keep posting.
