I thought that I'd share a bit of what I have been working on w/ the SSEiGT, as it's requiring a new harness built because I sold the OBD I harness. I decided to go w/ the OBD II for the ability to scan the car w/ my PDA only, as there was nothing wrong w/ the original harness, or the operation of it.
I have the Auto X-ray for scanning and data acquisition, which is great at getting codes, but horrible at logging any kind of data for any period of time. It only holds about 2o seconds of data, which is just not enough…

So, the harness is about finished, as I need to get some more wire loom from the wrecking yards, and I need to pick up some black tape as well. ( the red was backup only. )

Nice thing about this, is NO MORE C5oo. That connector just bugged me to no end....why, its hard to say, it's just one of those things I suppose.

As you can see here, there is a PS pump being installed. The bracket is just temp in there, as there is yet another brace that is going to be required to ensure that there are no issues w/ it once installed.
Rickady88GT is installing the "Easy Steer" using a 2ooo WS6 TA rack on the SSEiGT, so watch for final updates on this in the coming weeks.
Yes, the tensioner is currently touching the idler, but w/ the belts installed, there is no issue.

And a side shot of the motor...

Enjoy!

Yea, there's another one of us, but this one is in form "Wiring Harness Version 2.o"

As for the "Go Fast Goodies," I have:

  • 3.4 Modular Pulley;
  • Performance Solutions Headers;
  • And it's all punishing a 282 manual trans.

The install is not as clean as Loyde's, but hey...Im not professional.
I will say this tho, with this being the 2nd time that I have had to wire this car, if there is another 38oo in the near term future, I sure as hell will be making a call and putting a few things into the mail.

I can answer these questions. The intake and water pump inlets/outlets can be plugged. It works in these conditions. 87 and 88 Fieros. They have the water return for the heater core in the right side coolant tube. Low mount Alt device. Then a heater core outlet must be provided one of 2 ways. Either a T Stat housing like I make where there is a heater core output, or drill and tap the intake just under the Tstat housing area. I like the drill and tap under the Tstat housing because this provides warm water very quick to the Fiero heater core. If you use the Tstat housing area, then the Tstat must be open before the warm coolant hits the heater core.

The other question is the MAP relocated where the boost solenoid was located. Boost solenoid delete is explained here... http://www.fastfieros.com/tech/boost_solenoid_bypass_mod.htm

    Steve:
Thanx for the compliment. It's always nice to get a warm fuzzy, than a kick in the pants. I think that with an install such as this, it's really easy to get the WTF replies to the things that you are doing w/ the car when modifications are happening.
Especially when they are the "in-work" pics.

    Danno88GT5Spd:
Yes, it w0rks just fine, I just ch00se n0t to use it.

    Revin:
Loyde got the most of info there. Check the end of this post here for more detailed pics of what you’re asking about.

    Notorio:
    I’m working on it.

    The "new" stuff

The location where the boost control solenoid went, I have placed the MAP sensor using the original brackets that were on the car, but slightly modified w/ a grinder, a dremmel, and some gloss black paint.
There are two holes that are in the SC housing, of which I used one for the mounting of the MAP sensor. As you can see by the pics below, I turned the Boost Control Solenoid Flapper" towards the Throttle Body, and the MAP sensor actually rests just above the flapper very nicely. There is no need to cut, bend or do what not w/ the install this way.

The vac hoses are going to be very short, and all the "goodies" are there on the motor so that when you pull it ( the engine ) out of the car, there is little that you need to disconnect from the car to the motor. Quick and as painless as I could think of when the wiring was taking place.

I will be updating this as things happen, but with the time constraints that I’m going to be under in the coming weeks, ya might want to "STAR" it...

    And the pics:

Wait, I get it now, sorry! This is a 3800sc/auto combo which can pass CARB when the appropriate hoops are jumped through. I always think these are Getrag, which cannot pass CARB.

Well, not a whole lot, I got the wiring done, I have lowering springs on back order from the Fiero Store, and after talking to Rick, the power steering is about finished with regards to the front.
The pump still needs another bracket, as well as a turn buckle, so it's well on the way to being completed.

I still need to pick up a few things, plug wires and what not, but there was some improvement and I finally did get something that I have wanted to do for a while:

It's a surge tank out of a 96 Vette, and should work like a champ. I saw this in the Short*, and thought that I'd partake upon it myself to install it into the SSEiGT. The grey paint is primer, for the spots that I had to remove the stock mounting tabs. I will be painting the engine bay after this is all said and done.

As for a day that included building a dresser, cleaning the garage, and finally getting that tank in there, I thought that I deserve this:

I will update as soon as something exciting happens, and although I can guarantee that the other 5 of the "Bocks" will be exciting, I’m not sure that I will be able to type nor make sense here in about 3o minuets…

I wish that there was more to say. I’m going to be trial fitting the motor back into the car I hope today, and that will show me how the wiring harness fits. I plan on checking the harness as well for correct wiring – trying to see if she will start up.

I had to put the orig. pulley system back on the motor, as it seems that there is no place that I can get a turnbuckle with a bearing in it. I called a number of places yesterday, but it was to no avail. So, no PS for now, but that’s AOK, as I just want to make sure that the motor will run and that I got the wires going where they should be going.

The front end is still under the knife @ Rickady88GT’s place, and seems to be making a lot more progress than I over here at the mcaanda camp.

Ill take a few pics of the motor in the car, with the harness and get those posted here.
Cross your fingers and pray to the Fiero Goddess...it's going to be possibly run today!
