I'm searching for ideas on what to do with my sound system when my v8 swap is complete, I'd like to start getting some ideas. I'd like to see Sub and Amp locations and anything custom done thanks -gary-

Nice install! Did you make the subwoofer box yourself or was it an off the shelf unit? What are the dimensions of it? I'm looking to put one in my car in the same location.

I dont have mine in yet. I ran the RCA's and remote wire to the rear trunk I have 2 plans: 1 Build a sealed box to fill the lower part of the trunk (below the little shelfs) with handles to make it removeable 2:Build a cover for the lower section, put nuts in the trunk floor, and get some wing nut bolts to bolt the cover down. Make a gasket to seal it, mount the amp and 2 12's to the board, then just use the lower trunk as the box, again being readily removeable.

I made the box myself. It has an angle on the backside so I could angle the face and allow a little more foot room for a passenger. I can get you the dimensions this weekend.

not seen, kicker comps in the front, sony plates in the back. It can successfully be heard crisp clear echoing off of near by houses at night without a problem. (This was tested while it was in my garage......at night...... tehehehe)
Amplifiers: Audison HV Trenta , Audison VRX2.400 , Audison LRX2.500 (Trenta feeds the 8" sub in the center console, it pumps 1200W rms power to it) Main speakers: Hertz Space 8 x4, Hertz HV135 x2, Hertz HD500 x2, Hertz HT250 x2 Subwoofer: Hertz HX200 Cabeling: Audison S-First & ACS-1 & PA-Line CD-player: Pioneer DEH-P9600MP
Notice: the full top of the original dashboard is re-shaped and covered with real black leather. Doors (dual 8" foofers) have been re-shaped and also covered with leather. Center console (with the subwoofer) is made of plywood and fiberglass and , yes covered with leather. Amplifiers: 2 biggest amplifiers are mounted in the trunk in a latch that opens and closes by linear actuator, there is also 2 blue neon lights. LRX amplifier is installed with a see through window in the passenger side of dash, underneath it, the amplifier has custom blue lights installed inside of it and you can see all the electronics through a window.
Attention: I have made everything by my self, including the leather works, no payed help was used in any part. Total amount of hours spend building this audio system is now around 800.
Did you ever get my PM I sent about a year ago about your wingstands?
And to keep on topic, I have the following but no pictures: Eclipse speakers in stock locations, Eclipse deck, JL Audio 10W6v2 in a center console box(for pics, try Mr. Pat. It used to be his and I think he has pictures), Kicker 500.2 amp mounted up front above the battery for the sub, 2 Aura Bass Shakers per seat, Jensen amp for the Shakers.

I thought about putting a pair of 10"s behind my seats, but the Fiero is my only car, and giving up those 6 inchs my passenger seat would move back against the firewall would mean losing out on ALOT for me. Anybody ever stuff a 12 or something in the rear trunk? Everybody says you'd never hear it over the engine, but anybody ever do it for the hell of it? I think about it all the time.

Why not up front? I'm sure you'd have to remove the spare tire though, but you'd probably hear it better....but so would the whole neighborhood.

I made a box that held 2 10's and i fashioned it in a way that when i put it in it pointed straight uptowards the deck, It Sounded like crap rattled like a can of spray paint. but when your 17 and you have your own car the only thing you worry about is if someone else car hear your stereo while your driving down the road. -gary-

Did you ever get around to getting the dimensions?

To Fierosound and Gokart, and the others that have the subs behind the seat, How much seat travel do you lose, and what kind of cost would i be looking at to make boxes like that, and how many hours in installation?

I don't believe I lost any seat travel. If I did, it might be an inch or two. It didn't cost much at all either. I used MFD board for mine, along with silicon to seal the box. But if I were to do it over again I'd fiberglass it. Would be much easier to make sure the box is air tight. I redid my headliner and firewall in about a week. Most of that time was left to letting things set. I was also still driving the car so would need to reinstall the driver seat whenever I was done working on it for the day. Not hard to do, but becomes kind of a pain.

I lost one notch forward but I'm still very comfortable. I am only 5"9' though! I will be doing them over again soon because I was educated by Mach 10 that most of the room that gets taken up is actually the way you design the top of the box. I should've have the top of the front of the boxes meet the top of the back of the boxes. I'll send you measurements and pics if you'd like when I do them over. I'll also find a material that better matches the interior. The cost and time is well worth it. MDF cost about $28.00-$30.00 for a 4x8 sheet which is plenty and making the boxes took about 2.5-3 hrs. I use plenty of P/L construction adheasive at all the seams as well as thin 3 inch s/s nails so theres no air leaks. This time I'm going to wear gloves when working with the P/L....it took 2 weeks for it to finally peel off my fingers

awesome. Sounds affordable, and since I'm 5'7 it won't matter that I lose a notch in seat travel! Thank you for the info. If you could send me measurements when you get it done that'd be awesome!

I have this setup for many years: 8" Boston sub, 150watts JVC digifine composet up front, Magnat amp for the sub+composet, stock rear 4x6"s from the headunit, Pioneer with 6cd changer..
My old setup and some ideas for the new sub setup:

Here's the setup I had in my car for a while. Only thing left are the front/rear speakers.
Head unit: JVC KD-LX1 CD receiver - Early El Kameleon deck. This thing was a beast...it was still going strong when I traded in my Grand Am in Nov. 2003
Front components: Infinity Kappa 40.1cs 4" mid and 1" tweeter separates. Plate is laser cut plexiglas
Rear: Infinity Kappa 462.1cf 4"x6" plate speakers which required some cutting to fit behind stock grills.
Sub: 10" Precision Power PowerClass flat piston subwoofer in custom made box, 5/8" MDF, about .75 cu-ft internal volume.
Amp: Precision Power PC6600 Powerclass amplifier. This is running 50 watts into 4 channels for the main speakers, and the 5th and 6th channels bridged into one 200 watt channel for the subwoofer.
I still have the sub box laying around...if anyone wants it let me know...just needs a little cleaning up. If I put a system back in the Fiero I'll run 2 10s up front so probably won't be using this box.
