I think we could save a lot of space (bandwidth?) on this forum by Sticky posting certain topics in each section. I've been a member for a while now and I see that at least a third of the posts in Technical are regurgitated topics. I think if Cliff chose a couple people to help him sort out info, pics, or documents on certain topics and Sticky posted them in the appropriate forum section it would save some bandwidth, alleviate some newbies from getting hammered by veterans who think (rightly so) the questions are pretty simple, and make the forum a bit more useable. Some suggestions are:

Technical - How to set timing, Tips on replacing items such as plugs or wires, Why my headlights don't go up/down, etc.
General - What models of Fiero were available in what years, Options and RPO info, Lighting ideas, Body Kits, etc.
The Mall - Tips when buying used Fiero parts, What to look for when buying a Fiero.

Obviously this would be a pretty big workload for just Cliff, so maybe a few of the 'experts' in their respective fields could step up to offer putting together some articles or reviewing piece for him. Maybe Cliff could appoint some Moderators that would help with this kind of thing. Just seems there is a lot of waste here with a lot of the same ideas and topics being repeated with the same message(s) over and over. Any thoughts from anyone?

I know I'm pretty new here, but I think that would be a good idea... It'd take a lot of work, but it would help ma out a ton, and others too I'm sure. If it's feasable do it!

New guys just need to learn the use the drop list by hitting the + signs on the Forum Index page.

When hit you will get the following list and that should make it easier but few use it or even know that it is there.
2. Technical Discussion & Questions
General
Engines (Stock)
Engine Swaps
Suspension
Transmission
Electrical
Bodywork
Interior

This is the place to ask and discuss all Fiero related technical topics.

Is that what your talking about?

Indiana - That does help sort them into the correct spot, but I think having a few that are always there for reference would help a bit. Currently, unless another member has brought something up about, say, timing, then they have no reference. Sure they can use search, but try it. Go put Timing, or Ignition Timing, into the search bar and see what comes back. Of the many articles that come back, only one or two are useful.

Thanks guys for your input!

I think it would be cool to have the search have the ability to search only the certain topic you choosed. Like if you want to search engine swaps, then click engine swaps and type in 3800SC.

Of course this would only work from when cliff started the topics field, but it would be good to grow on.

I think using the faq would be better then a bunch of stickies.

Sticky threads get out of control. I have been to forums where the first page is 1/2 filled with stickys. No offense, but I like it how it is. If you want something sticky you can make it sticky yourself.

I may be alone in my opinion but I like the forum how it is. I also like the fact that there are no moderators, just Cliff.

I agree.

A real FAQ page with a button that took you there on every page might be the way to go. We keep rehashing this but nobody seems to want to do the work that needs to be done. I have made some threads in my favorites which I repost when that topic comes up. The real question seems to be wheather anyone follows the link and then actually reads the thread info. A lot of you seem to only be able to deal with what's on the thread you are looking at. I don't mean that maliciously, it's just my observation from lurking.

The truly amazing part is this forum has been really active almost from the start. It's still one of the best forums on the net, dispite a turnover in car owners, repeted questions, would be flamers, and the fact that it deals with a car that ceased production 17 years ago. Part of that is due to Cliff's moderating skills, part to a commited group of owners. I have friends who check it out and they don't/want to own a Fiero. Cliff's a major class act in his own right. I dread the day he sells his Fiero.
