Just ripped the cracking, shattered GT quarterpanel windows from my car a few days ago, got sick of seeing them on there (and sick of hearing people say "what happened to your window? *gasp!* and the other one???"). Now I need to replace them and I want to know what the best-looking options would be. So far I have seen only one aftermarket replacement in person (the ones from The Fiero Store) and I'm looking at at least 3 different replacements:
The Fiero Store Fiero Warehouse Factory Originals
Right now I'm looking hard at the Fiero Warehouse set. I didn't like the look of the Fiero Store's version. Factory Originals seem harder to come by and a LOT more expensive, but I'm looking at all options.
I'd like to hear your experiences with any aftermarket 1/4 panels you've bought/used, and any recommendations you might have.
Thanks-a-plenty

I have noticed on pretty much all reproductions I have seen that they don't have the rolled edge all the way around the edge of the window. Just something to look out for. It is noticeable. If you are not after a stock look it probably wont worry you a great deal.

My car has the Fiero Warehouse windows. I am fairly happy with them, since they look better than my cracked stockers. 8.5/10
I would give fit 8/10, finish a 9/10, cost 9/10
In general, I found it to be an acceptable fit, but compared to the OEM windows, somewhat different. They didnt have the same smooth curve - instead they had a single 'bend' to create the cuved look. The rolled edge is rolled from top to bottom, unlike the OEMs, and as such made the top of the window pop off the body since the roll stopped the top edge of the panel from sitting flush. I ended up having to heat the corner over my stove and press it more flat to fit better. The shape of the window is perfect, and came with really good double stick tape.
The paint scratches off pretty easily, and there was evidence of retouching of scratches prior to it being shipped to me. I had to retouch with black paint before installation. However, the look & quality of the window is great! dot matrix, GT logo, all look OEM.
Price is pretty good, and Doug is good to communicate with.
I would love to hear reviews of windows by other manufacturers - Eg Kahines, Fiero Store etc.

Fiero Warehouse's old version wasnt curved so when you put it on a car around the window opening it looked a little funky but still a heck of a lot better than cracked windows. Now, according to his site he has a new version out which is curved but i havent seen those on a car so I can't tell you what they look like.
I wouldnt buy the aftermarket ones from FieroStore. If I was going to buy ones without the dot-matrix and GT logo, I would buy from www.kahines.com his have the rolled lip, theyre curved to the car, and theyre only $110 a pair plus $16.95 shipping as opposed to the FieroStore's $169.95 plus shipping and the kahines ones look exactly the same from what i can tell with teh small thumbnail that FS gives you on their site.
My quarter windows look pretty crappy and I will probably get the ones from kahines, theyre cheep and I can get them tinted which I would really like to have.

Ooo... hmm... ok, so then aside from factory originals, the pickings are slim and not exactly perfect, huh. Is it really that hard to make these things?
Now, another question. Has anyone heard of LexaMart? When I pulled the windows off my car both sides had a LexaMart price sticker-style label on them. On top of that, the strip of double-sided tape that sticks to the middle section around where the GT logo is wasn't used. There was still the red protective plastic on it, making me wonder if the windows I had on there were actually a second set to begin with?
Not sure I like the scoop versions. The visibility to the sides is pretty bad as it is so I don't think I'd feel safe driving around with a huge blind spot. I'm constantly looking through that little window . I've seen the windowed scoop versions, too, not sure I like those either. Could be one of those things where you see it in person and it looks way better than you thought it did

I agree, I' ve seen these scoops on cars in my area and I think they look really ugly even paint matched to the car. And like you said they create huge blind spots on the car which is a bad idea too. I' ve seen the non curved replacement windows on a car and they're nowhere near as nice as the originals. They have a definate unfinished tacked on look. I wouldn't recommend them. They're better than damaged ones I suppose but only just. I'm looking for some replacement windows for my GT too. I' ve managed to remove one of my factory windows intact and our club is going to try and make a replacement. We have a guy that says he can do it. We'll see I guess.

Spyhunter: seriously? Odd... it's as if they weren't put on right at the factory, then! Aie yie yie...
GT-maniac: if your club can make replacements that look as close to factory originals as we can get, then I'm definetely interested. Can you keep us informed on that?

I found a guy on eBay that produces his own windows or something. they aren't the greatest fit, But they are accecptable. He sold me a clear set which i needed for my project and they came very well packed and even came with the mounting tape. Here's a current auction. I told him about pennocks, but i don't know of he ever signed up. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7920884175&category=6781
One of these days i'll get around to posting pics of the windows, but anyone who was at the dells and looked at the black car w/red flames back in the work in progress section already saw em. (maybe)

Can you get the turbo scoops with windows anywhere other than the fiero store? Also, I thought I heard that someone was working on producing GLASS GT quarter window replacements? ------------------ Thanks Aus! More info at: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/043357.html

Well, it looks like I'll be going with the Kahines QP windows. After I saw the pic on Fiero Store's site then looked at the Kahines site, I noticed the pictures used are *exactly* the same pic (the Store's supplier?). No doubt I'll be going with the tinted version, as I'm going to try and get my windows tinted anyway. It's too hot without it (and without AC).
I was seriously thinking about getting the scoop windows, but after some looking it began to look like the car grew ears, and the little window didn't seem like it helped much in the way of visibility.
I looked at the eBay ones and they look real nice, but the "arent the greatest fit" part kinda worries me. They're also a bit more expensive than the Kahines version, and I think I like the non-dot matrix look anyway.
Thanks for the help everyone
EDIT: Once again it appears my post has included the "mad" post icon. It's not supposed to be mad, just an accidental post thing, apparently.

I put a set of the scoop ' windows ' on Raptor. They were painted the same purple as the car. I put them on with silicone adhesive, not the 2 sided tape that came with them. Seen too many come loose and fly off, and I didnt want any visible screws. If you do have to see out of them, they also have the same scoop with a little plexiglass window in them. I too didnt care to much for the Fiero Warehouse ones curve that really didnt match the originals.
I'm using the same windows as BlackAzzGT - tinted non-logo Kahines repros. I love them. I think they are a tiny bit smaller than the originals, but with a little effort and placement they look fine.

If it's not too much trouble, those who've replied and have repro windows installed, can you post pics? Like close up pics? I've already decided on the set from Kahines, but I'd like to see how your sets came out. Mostly the ones without the scoop, as the link to the thread posted earlier has tons of those already. I'll be posting mine as soon as they're in.
EDIT: What's with the unused double-sided tape? :P If anyone knows...

My original windows are finally at the point where they need to be replaced - and I had been planning on picking up a set or repros from Doug at Fierowarehouse until I saw this car...
(John Olson from Wisconsin)
He had the Quarter Window Scoop painted to actually look like a scoop added onto an original window (complete with GT logo and everything). So I just picked up a set of these last month and have already received the logo stickers from Paul McKibben... now I just need to take a bit of time and paint & mount these things!
Those are the best looking quarter windows I have seen so far.
MinnGreenGT, can you give us more info on those and some more pics. I love the look of these. I would love the order a set of these, as soon as I can raise the money. John

They're actually exactly the same as the ones Revin has on his Gunmetal GT shown above - they're the FieroStore's Turbo Scoops with Tinted Windows and regularly sell for $230 (I picked mine up from the PFF Mall for a bit less than that).
Then he just had them painted black and had the raised area (and some shaping beyond that) painted body color to match!
I don't really have any other angles (although I may have some from the WOW-mpls show last year... I'll check) here's a couple more shots for everyone:
While I'm at it... here's an old thread with a ton of pics of Quarter Window Scoops on cars (some with window - some without). But I can say off hand that i'm not a big fan of solid-body-color quarter window scoops... they make the side of the car seem a bit too slab-sided for my own personal tastes.
I have the Fibersmith scoops, and they fit excellent with no modification required, also come with gel coat on ready to paint, basically you mount them how you want to and go. heres some pics of mine.

This one is a Fiero Warehouse product. It may not be quite as good as original, but it is as good as I've found. The pic is poor quality because of being in a rather dark garage so it doesn't do it justice. The fit is pretty good with the slightly curved leading edge. I did take Roger's suggestion and used black silicone in addition to the double sided tape. They are too expensive to let fly off going down the road. Dave

As a side note, my car got wrecked a while back - I had new fiero warehouse QP windows on it. I was able to pull the fiero warehouse windows off the car without breaking them.

Spyhunter, you mentioned that the paint on the Fiero Warehouse versions scrape off easily... does it come off easy when you wash it, too? Might be a stupid question, but I figured I'd ask anyway
Thanks for posting those pics. That hybrid-looking scoop with window QP replacement looks really nice. I don't think I'll have time to make a mod like that, tho.
Has anyone seen the Fiero Warehouse version next to the Kahines version and been able to compare them?

The piece of unused tape under the quarter windows is used as a barrier cushion so if the window gets pushed on, The leading curved edge won't crack when the center of the window hits the structure under it. This was done at the factory and should also be done when you replace the quarter windows. (I actually double up on this strip when installing the repop windows to give them more of a factory looking bow) If you pull the backer membrane off and let your new window stick to it you could see the window cracking in a few months time if your in live in areas that get temps below 32 degrees.
It's common to see small areas of the black INK on the back of repop windows touched up. the touched up area is usually the result of who ever did the silk screen not fixing his screen or seeing bad areas on the screen before making a run of the windows. Older screens need to be touched up after each run made if the operator is having a bad day of to hard of a pull with the squeegee. :~)
