Well I was woking on some various things this weekend and I decided to snap some pictures. I changed the tranny oil to synchromesh, changed the oil and installed the last 3 magnecore wires. I also secured the firewall connector again because somehow it became loose. Lately i've been battling a misfire problem on what seems like one piston so i replaced those wires and that didnt do it, so i figured that next ill change the plugs. Well onto the pics...

This is just kinda showing the car:

this is to proove that it is a daily driver, goes on muddy roads, gets driven in the salt, and it is my only car. Some people dont beileve this.

just kinda a quick pic of my interior ripped apart from working on the firewall connector.

Pic of the engine bay with the new taylor 7.5 mm's installed. i like the red over the stock black.

These next few pics are to show my crumby exhaust setup right now, and since i had the exhaust thread up (technical)i figured that i would show you my crappy exhaust. it wouldnt be so bad if it were 2.5" mandrel bends.

3.4 DOHC Motor Swap-14.7 in the 1/4 mile with no hook-up, crumby exhaust and automatic chip.
Better exhaust, chip, cam retarding, and driver to come... I'm feeling lucky!

more exhaust

this is a really shitty pic of my fuel lines, what i did to make them work is i bent them after heating them up and by bending them the other way i was able to make them come out the on left hand side of the engine bay so that i didnt have the run the fuel lines across the engine bay.

and another of the fuel lines..

This one is to show how i just used a stock fiero coolent tube and cut it down in size to make it work with the DOHC motor. It fit quite well and i have had no problems with leaking.

this one just shows the coolent tube a little farther away, also way in the corner i just used a block off piece to block off the coolent tube y piece. I didnt use it as the 3.4 DOHC motor allready has provisions for the heater core.

this shows my WCF front tranny mount connected to Rodney Dickmans front tranny mount bracket. Both of them are of good quality, i really liked how perfect Rodney's mount fit.

pics part three....
This shows how perfect the 3.4 DOHC's computer sits in the stock fiero's battery tray. Int eh future im going to weld in some mounting brackets, but i havent gotten around to it yet. it doesnt move anyhow, and its impossible for it to hit the belt.

This picture shows you my dogbone mount. it isnt just bolted to the engine lift bracket, we made some aluminum bushings that fit inside the eyelit of the bracket and then had them extend out to the other side where we placed another aluminum piece over to to clamp it onto the lift bracket. The other end uses the stock fiero brackets to hold it to the strut tower but there is a second set of holes that are drilled up farther for less of an angle on the mount.

for those of you in the thread that was discussing the placement of the map, i thought that i would show you what the 95's vac. distribution block looks like. i beleive that it is the same as the later ones. The only line that i am using is for the FPR. Does anyone know how the stock FPR works? how easy would it be to remove it and replace it with an aftermarket one so i can tune better?

and last but not least, i thought that i would throw on my custom rain coever for the front spark plugs and show you all what it looks like. Soon im gonna polish it and have some air brushing done prolly and then have it clear coated. Hopefully it'll look cool.

So any questions/comments/concerns? Soon I'm gonna clean up my wiring so that i dont have random wires going everywhere in my engine bay. Its not that bad except for the tranny side and some of the main power wires, but hey, not too bad for a newbie! theres always room for improvement.

The DOHC motor looks and sounds awesome in a fiero. something abotu a 60* V6 sounds really good to me. looks good!

thanks guys, and Mike shhh.. Fieromaster, i know you used to be a rev person, so its about time that we meet up so i can turn you to the dark side of revs! In reality, i bet the 4.9 is faster.. for now, but there is alot of potential in the DOHC motor. Cam timing, good exhaust and some headers later you should be sniffing 3.4 DOHC exhaust!

timeslips so far indicate the 3.4 is faster and has more potential.. mmmm revs

If I had a ton of money I would get the best of both worlds. V8 with DOHC that will rev. That would be the LT5. Thats pretty expensive tho. I am still a rev person. I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up with a 4.9?

nope, thier 7.5's... im actually gonna look now. see what you did?! BTW magnecore does make some 8 mm ones, they may be nicer than mine... but i dunno. I just got what i could.

i found the recipt but looking them up online, doing preliminary searches anyhow, i could not find them. I swear to god tha they were taylor wires, but i have magnecore written down ont eh recipt... so heres what the recipt says..

PART #: FDW 83122 DESCRIPTION: MAG-XTS CUSTOM WIRES LIST EACH: 107.94 YOUR COST: 69.99 (I might have gotten a break on them cuz i go there all of the time)

I dont know if you'll find them or not, honestly. I ordered mine form a local auto parts store, but it is a bumper to bumper store. A website given on the recipt is www.800autotalk.com

hey man, looking good.

Hopefully we can get together sometime in the spring. My car is slowly coming back together. Should be all together by early april. But, I may have a few bugs to work out. So, late april probably. We can go down to hwy 100 or something. I always have fun down there. maybe later in the summer we can go to a track. Keep in touch.

well, i guess i do have taylors.. i think that they just rang me in for some cheaper wires or something. Oh well, now im gonna have to bookmark that page in case i ever want to ge bigger. The taylors that i got arnt that bad though, all pre-assembled and whatnot.

Thanks for the complements. Did you ever get that intake that you wanted putont aht car? What are ya doing to it right now? Hwy 100 sounds like fun as long as its once i have all of my points back some friends and i are planning on going to the track several tims this summer. I will keep you up to date on when. Hopefully my engine wont be stock by then. Hell, cam timing will at least be done, thats free!

Well, I started making my own custom intake for it, that would use an allante lower intake manifold, but I was having trouble with the steel I was making it in. It was too thin, and kept warping. I may try again with thicker aluminum.

Anyway, for the time being I bought a complete allante upper and lower intake manifold and have it mostly installed.
Allante Fuel rail, and Allante steel rocker supports to hopefully allow some higher reving safety.

I also moved the engine over to the drivers side about 5/8" to prevent some hitting under heavy launching, and replaced my stock V6 clutch with a spec stage 3. That will probably be the biggest difference. I'm guessing my 0-60 to be about 5 seconds

I was getting a 14.6 @ 98 mph before. I'm guessing a 13.7 - 14.0 now.

I also did a good inspection of the motor. took off the lower intake manifold, valve covers, and oil pan to get a good look. I was happily surprised with the cleanest 150K engine I have ever seen.

I just need to pop the engine back in, hook up the wiring, connect the hoses, and most likely work out a few bugs with the new intake.

Keep me updated on your progress, and let me know when your up for something. I plan to have the fiero back down in waukesha sometime in mid-late april.
