Well there was an 87 Fiero GT for sale locally and I really wanted it. I had seen it in person before actually, had spoken to the driver and even suggested he join the Golden Gate Fiero Club. I guess he wasn't interested or was just to busy maybe. Well his car was beautiful and he told me it had been a show winner a while back (maybe a few years). At one of the meetings John Sparza was able to figure out which show it won. (I forget now). It has a golden dog bone plague.

Well apparently the engine was blown and that was why he decided to sell it. There was no set price, just email him an offer, so I submitted my offer and just hoped that none of the local fiero people would beat my offer.

Well I got it, its home now. My plans are to put a 3.4 in it.

That will require me to sell my daily driver (the maroon 87 Fastback) that is in my sig. I would really appreciate some input on what I should ask for, and what I can expect to get for it. Keep in mind the engine is a 2.8 bored out to 3.1 and only has about 15k miles on it right now. Everything works except the aircondition needs to be converted. It has all the power options. It needs both quarter panel windows replaced. One is cracked the other is missing. The 5 Speed Getrag and the exhaust came out of a 70k parts car and only have about 80k on them now.

This new car is an automatic, has leather seats, custom 16inch wheels, taillights, side scoops and is lowered a little with new springs in it.

It told me it wants to come to Alaska and show me it's sweet, sweet, love.
It told me it wanted to be a gift.
Will you dissobey the will of Fiero?
I think not.

Would you take a soul for it?
I got one I could let go.
Preatty used, but still got a few Hail Marys left in er'!
I probibly wouldn't miss it, as it's kept me broke most of my life.
But if my family asks, just play dumb!

Normally a soul would be a good trade, I have been told I need one.

If you want it, all you have to do is bring a 3.4 to California for me, install it in the yellow car and then you can drive the maroon one back to Alaska LOL

well my wife likes it better then the setup in my maroon car (see pic below), which involves losing an inch behind the passenger seat (amp back there), sub on the passenger floor, and that custom glove box, she feels like she has no leg room.

When I sat in this yellow car, I realized that sub would bother me being I have long arms, but with an automatic I don't I won't need to shift so I guess I can move my arm somewhere else.

I was wondering when somebody would ask what I paid for this car. $500 for the car and $100 for the Subwoofer.

Is there anyone in the SF Bay area/San Jose etc... who has experience putting in a 3.4 DOHC? and would want to do this in my car?

I would also need an idea of how much this will cost (roughly) to buy the engine and labor.......and how long it would take to get done?

Price differences between a new engine (no miles) and maybe a slightly used one?

I am serious about getting this done, and that is why I am asking for numbers.

I am also curious to hear what the differences are between the 3.4 pushrod, and the 3.4 DOHC.

All replies are appreciated/welcome.

Well I have my 88 notchie for sale and it will probably sell in the next few days. I put it in a local shop for a "free oil change" and I couldn't get back in time before they closed so it was stuck there all weekend. (had to put off my buyers).

Today I just listed my Maroon 87 Fastback (the one in my sig) in the mall and locally. Hopefully I get a buyer there too.

and yesterday while I was out cruising around I saw another maroon 87 fastback, so ofcourse I put a club card on it, and my own note asking if it was for sale....guess I don't learn hehehehehehe

here is the link to the one I just put in the mall

You'd gain a wealth of knowledge by searching these forums; those swaps and others have been discussed over and over in great detail. Basically, the pushrod engine is almost a bolt-in but only gets you a few more horspower; 170 instead of the 140 the Fiero came with. The DOHC engine is much more powerful and a more difficult swap.

Some basic things you need to consider: an engine swap is not something you'll be able to do at your apartment. You'll need a shop to work in or one that'll do the work for you. Another thing to consider is that it's not going to be cheap; I'd guesstimate at least 100 hours labor to swap in that easy 3.4 pushrod. Add on the cost of parts you'll need and... Well, it's not cheap.

You might want to talk with Fierobear and Mike at Purrfect to see what they have to say about your project.

TORQUE & HORSEPOWER With it being a auto I would go with the pushrod, plus it just about bolts in. Bring the yellow and the maroon car here to Ohio and you will leave with a 3.4 yellow one Ill trade the labor and the engine for that car

Well hopefully if all goes well my car will be done in the next 10 days or so. It's taken me a while to raise the $$ to get the 3.4 installed.

In the meantime, I was wondering who might know anything about my car's history. The person I bought it from only had it for a few months and didn't really know anything about its history or the mods done to it. I just found this laying around and maybe it will help identify who used to own this car and did the work to it.

Bump Bump Bump.

also does anyone know what kind of wheels these are? Someone had thought they were Motegi Dp10, but the center emblem doesn't seem to match.

This images is larger than 100K. Click to view.

Well while I was visiting my car today I took a picture of the wheel, brought it into the wheel shop that's next to the auto shop and they identified the emblem, then later I found the exact ones based on that. They are

HELO BEZEL 17 inch. approximately $170 each for the wheels (not including the tires ofcourse)
