Edit: I do have one question though, what size wheels can you get away with and at what offset? A '+' for anybody who can help me out.
The IMSA wb shown is the race version with tube frame so potential tire size wouldn't really compare to the street version. I have 275-40-17 on the rear and 225-45-17 front on my street version WB.

Hey I recognize that Picture. I took that at the GM Tech Center last year about this time. If you look real close you can see my sons head in the driver window.

You should have brought along some telephone books for him to sit on!

Hi all,
I believe you could go with 7 to 8 inchs for the front, with the right offsets for wider wheels....And the rear, 9 to 10 inch, again with the right offsets........I don't know much about offsets, but you could go down to a wheel dealer and ask a tech to show you the measurement of an offset......That's what I'll do when I go wheel shopping.........
Someone had started a thread with all kinds of Fiero race cars. I thought I had saved these pictures to my hard drive, but I guess I did not. I tried to do a search, to no avail. Does anyone have these photos, or can they lead me to the right thread?
Thanks

I started those threads. Those were pictures I took at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin in the 80's. I found the threads in the archive. Here are the links
You can see more of the green street version - www.digidids.com Look under the watkins glen opening day, select group #10 and look on page 2 / photo 22, page 4/ photo 63, and pg7/ 104. BTW this IMSA wears 295/15-50 and 225/45-15 on custom ARE wheels

Old Lar is this your fastback IMSA?? If so or not, does anyone know if the IMSA street version is just as wide as a race version??
My IMSA is the coupe version. This was base on an 88 Fiero coupe. The race versions have a tube frame with Fiero cladding on the frame. I'm not sure if the stock IMSA is the same width as the race version, but I suspect they are the same.

Who owns that gorgeous Valvoline '4' race car? I need to see that beauty in person. Does this car ever make it to any shows, and if so, which ones?
The Dingman Bros. in Orlando, the car builders, still own the car. It has been at the Daytona show the past two years. I don't know if it will be there in 2006. I wasn't in running condition and came and went on a trailer.

The car is still owned by Dingman Bros; Racing (no they won't sell it!) but Spice Engineering built the car for Pontiac to run in the 1987 IMSA GTO Series. Late in 1987 Pontiac told Billy Dingman that they were cutting all of the Fiero Racing funds for the GTU and GTO class but they would sponsor them in the GTP class for 1988, Billy said no thanks to expensive and took Pontiac's money to NASCAR in 88 with Greg Sacks as there driver. Sacks almost bankrupt them with wrecked DNF cars so I'm told...
As of now the number 4 car will be at the Florida Fiero Show in Daytona this March. Today it remains in the exact condition it was after the last race in 1987, so this would make it the "only" original IMSA Fiero race car left in my eyes...

I've seen that white one very long ago in a race preped Miata video going against numerous cars including one titled Fiero which was this car. I always wondered what car it was because the video wasn't the greatest quality and the Fiero had weird taillights, widebody, and a tall wing. Now I know what car it is, thanks. This car looks amazing, props to the creator, especially for going out and racing and giving Fieros a better image.
RickN the green IMSA was built @ IRM by Jim Sutter & crew back in '95. They also added some goodies such as the turbo, s/s exhaust, tube a-arms, racing coilovers, and more. The local pontiac dealer then painted it. It is a real smile machine!
