It’s time to check your calendars to make sure that you have checked the 24 – 26th of March to come and play in Daytona.
This year the host hotel (Holiday Inn Express – Daytona) will be close by the track, almost within walking distance. The location opens up many more possibilities of things to do close to the hotel.
We hope to include some fun events (more to come) as well as being inside the Daytona International Speedway along with lots and lots of other show cars.
This year also will be the “The Great Choptop Reunion”. It will be interesting how many of Archie’s creations can make it on down for the show.
I'll be there....Can't wait. The hotel very close by is great, too. The other place by the beach was ok,but someplace new will be good. See you in a few months!!

Will Daytona Speedway let us "roll" on the track? Or at least take a picture with the car on the track? I guess doing a "donut" would be out of the question, hehe. J/k

Daytona stopped allowing rolling on the track or being on the several years ago for insurance reasons and people trying to do actual racing for the photo shoot. The had a track photographer taking photos with a Daytona wall in the background as part of the entry fee, but he too has been eliminated . The past few years the photos were crap...out of focus, color imbalance etc.
The Fiero spot on the track is after the #4 turn and you can get a photo like this:

The guy ripped me off in 2003 as I never got the picture that I payed for of my car on the track.
Daytona is still a lot of fun. You can't beat Spring Break in Florida!
This will be a first time if I can make it. Have a couple questions. What time do things start on Friday (the real question is how early should I plan on getting there)? When is the Banquet? And does the hotel have a place for car haulers?

In addition to all the chop tops,... there will be several new projects unvieled for the first time. A couple of them i have seen sneak peeks of and are off the charts !

Just made my reservation. March 23rd - 26th They didn't say that Thursday was extra, just that it was outside the block. Well if it is, it's only an extra $40. Besides it's an extra day away from work and the kids.
Phil - I may want your cell phone number, just in case I take any more Fieros for a test drive and don't make it back.

Only if you give me a 4 second headstart
I haven't made my reservation yet, but I like the fact that the haulers can be there at the hotel. Leaving my truck at the track was kind of inconvenient.

I've been ther before with the PT Cuisers, they provide hoses to wash your car (a good thing). 1. Very nice pool, with real tables & chairs. 2. Clean & modern rooms. 3. The parking lot is much more accommodating to a car show (let's walk around and look at the cars). 4. A large foyer and free breakfast area, with widesceen TV. 5. A bar next door. I'll be there for sure (the motel I mean). MrMike

So will there be hoses at the hotel to wash cars? I'm thinking of entering my '88 GT into the stock/daily driver class or something. Its factory original paint, all-original interior, heck the only "mods" are new wheels and a 1" drop in the front. Its got 41,xxx miles on it right now, and it has a few slight nicks in the paint (mostly on the hood), would it be worthwhile to enter my car or would I just get blown away by the competition? I also don't have a trailer to take it down on, it would be driven down and would need a wash (handwash, I don't trust ANY type of mechanical wash).
Also, would I still qualify for daily driver class? I'm reading the registration, its asking how many days I drive it and if its my main mode of transport....I only drive it 1-2 days a week and its not my main transport.

Ding Ding Ding. You got it right Paul. Last year I was a late register and couldn't stay at the Hotel. I stayed at the same Holiday Inn Express that were staying at this year. Easy access to the track and I95.

I'll give it a go...I'm always up for a run down the strip. Hope my car is not too heavy, too slow, too ugly or too underpowered to give you a run...LOL

On the bottom of the page is a little blue box (Pennock's Image Poster PIP), click on the box and follow the instructions on how to download the program.
The entry fee to get into the Daytona track on the day of the show (Saturday) is $10 (I think), but that is just to walk in. If you want to register for the show go to the link on the first post to get an entry form.

Since I won an award last year do I just enter my car for display? I haven't done alot more on the car other than new paint and finishing the interior color change to black. The car is still my daily driver.

Not sure I'm gonna make it this year or not, but if I do I hae a few questions.
1: I placed last year, do I get a chance to place this year? 2: Is it daily driver if you only drive it a few time a week, and it's not my main transportation? 3: Does the bar have a decent happy hour?

There will be no "Display" class this year. If you do not want your car judged and you want to join the rest of the Fieros in the track, you have two options: 1) Register for the show and park in the designated parking area behind the show Fieros 2) Register for the show, display your car with other Fieros in the same class and then do not go to the judging area when called. That's it. Please note that you must fill out the questionairre first and then you will be ASSIGNED to a show class ( which will determine where you park). You do NOT pick your class this year. We will assign you to a class when you register.

Space Coast Fieros has arranged a dyno day for Sunday March 26 in Edgewater, Florida. Its a short run south of Daytona. It will cost $50 per car at the dyno shop for two runs. It takes about 1/2 hour per car to get everything set up from my past experience.
More details to follow.
