I want to know how much money was spent on some of these EXTREMELY nice cars I've seen on here, (among many, songman's and the dude with the silver chop top with lambo doors). Lets see your cars and whats gone into them. How much money do I need for a dream car like all of yours? I spent $800 on a 84 se. lol.

The original vehicle (and the drivetrain donor, on the trailer) 88 coupe. $2K in 1997.
It's not even "all that", and I stopped counting at $6K.
And then there's the other one, that's in the paint shop. I'll have over $5K into that one pretty soon, and I haven't even started on the drivetrain yet (still runs fine, for now.)
I sure hope my wife doesn't see this thread. ------------------ Raydar 88 3.4 coupe...........
When I am done with everything that I am planning I will have $13,000 to 16,000 in it. $9,000 to 12,000 will be in the drive train depending upon engine choice. I will not say how much I have already spent but I could not do it again for the same price even if I got a car for free.
That may sound like a lot of money until you look at new cars that are available for the same price. Nothing is comparable. It will not be worth as much money as the initial investment but the depreciation will stop as soon as it is completed. New cars in that price range will continue to drop. With a 3800 SC it would be an economy car with serious bark. If I choose an LS1 it will beat almost anything on the road, here, or in Europe. Big bang for the buck.

Hehehe i believe u are reffering to Madcurl's #11 aka the Silver Chop top. Uh let's just say you might need a calculator with an extra set of batteries to total this one up ! Trust me i have drooled over and studied this car part for part, labor for labor, and have a good idea.
You reaaaaaaally don't want to know,..hehehe might depress you.
Not stepping on Curly's toes, but simple public knowledge tells you the rims, chop, and Northstar engine put you well over $20 K right off the bat.
Throw in lots and lots of custom body work, custom dash, Mr mikes, Corvette Brakes, Lambo doors, Paint, various scoops, interior pieces, digital dash gauges, Viper shift bezel, Audi TT vents, Held suspension, custom wing tips, wing stand extensions, Pisa rockers, new carpet, new matts, fiberglass headliner, momo steering wheel, custom cup holders, audio and electronic equipment, security system, etc, etc,..... and you can see this one gets a bit pricey !!

I have owned this car since 1995... so keep in mind pricing for everything changes over the years!
I originally paid about $4600 for the car in late 1995 - it had some body damage, about 66k miles, and had been a smoker's car. But at the time - that was pretty much "going rate" for the car in that condition.
Since then the car has had: Bodywork repaired, 1st Paint Job, Stock Wheels Refinished, Minor collision repair, Engine replaced w/3.1L V6, Tranny replaced with 440T4, Koni Shocks (rear coilovers), Poly Bushings, Many Body Mods (installed my self to save funds), Another Paint Job, New Custom Wheels, More Body Mods, F-Body Seats, Other Minor interior Mods, and the list goes on & on.
Last time I figured I've got over $27k into the car... and that's not including the V8 swap that I'm currently prepping for... ouch.

My Web page | The Turbo Super Duty Build. You know that little voice that says it can't be done? I duct-taped mine's mouth shut and pushed it down a flight of stairs.
I'm currently up to about 4200 or so into mine 1300 for the car -- really should have been worth about half that, oh well. 150 in the headlights 200 for Fuel line and battery tray 250 for maintenance stuff (plugs, wires, fluids, brake pads) 200 for mp3-cd player head unit (yay tunes!) 400 for fierostore ocelot cat-back (old one fell off ) . . . oh yeah, $200 for brake hardlines and rebuild the calipers 100 for stainless hoses . . . bunch of stuff like that, then a $1000 bombshell for suspension (shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings, engine/tranny mounts) . . . And I still need to paint it (probably at least $1000) and do the interior right (Mr. Mikes and other stuff - another grand)
Well I added it up, to the best of my ability, and damn, I am over 27K for everything. The paint Then nose The headlights Wheels and tires Brakes New suspensioin New interior New Dash Engine work etc, etc, etc
I just hope the wife does not see this post, cause she would get upset.
I have spent over 27 thousand dollars so far, and I am still going. Here are some pictures.
I stopped adding up the bills from my local parts store after I hit about $22K. Not to mention the hours, which I've also stopped counting and future upgrades, which I'm planning. Like others have mentioned I hope the spousal unit doesn't read these posts!!
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...wow...yah i am probably between $20,000-$25,000 CDN. total into my car, but that includes eveeeeeerything (current motor, old motor/setup, accessories like rims, and paint plus the goodies like suspension, etc.)...though i save a lot on labour since it was done by my buddy mech. in my garage mostly with me helping. if u include labour......well this swap would be $6,000-$10,000 from a shop in labour alone. though i would have put almost the same into any other car i may have got that i chose to "do up" but i chose the fiero gt
but hey, high 11's, drives awesome, razor sharp handling, looks hot....all for that kinda money aint bad. its fun punking off/surprising big buck sports cars driven by enthusiats and poseurs alike, when they think they can handle u, heh

hmm... my 86 SE... $2,100 then another $350 for tranny and $250 for paint (did our selves) then it died. Many plans for it tho, already have SBC.
88 coupe. $500 then $60 for complete tune up. then at LEAST $400 in clutch system new from pedal to flywheel... and it STILL doesnt move. so another $2-300 when i get home is goin into it... then alignment, rims+tires.. sheesh! tis ok tho i LOVE my Fieros
Ya'll are making me feel pretty good about my cars !!!
i'll second this statement. my first car was by far the biggest money pit, and i didn't even really mod anything past a simple stereo, just tons of repairs. i think i spent about 7k cdn on it. second car is my 85GT, between stereo, paint, engine, extensive body mods i'm ABOUT to break 10grand on it. only because i'm doing the motor and paint this year, i'm getting the paint done at cost(saving 3000EASY, and the motor will be a touch over 3000 cause i'm getting it built for me) and lastly the 86SE i bought for 1700, spent 500 on repairs, 200 on stereo, 100 on a new tranny and that's about it. it's now pretty minty(although mostly stock) and i have well under 3k into it
i dunno, i always used to play the "if i won the lottery today" game and figured it would only take about 15grand to build my dream fiero, i guess i have cheap tastes?

Just because the car sleeps under his full size feather blanket in the winter. The old engine resides full time in the living room and Greg insists whatever I am knitting at the moment is really a carburetor "cozy" doesn't make somebody "certifiable", does it?
Now if I were to ever all those up,
some doubts about the whole thing could possibly could surface ...

I lost track back in the days when it ran 12's. Then i went turbo, and the price doubled. So 2+turbox12's=11's so about 7890358972389q3 this much moneys.
Those are my 2 Fieros, the red one is a '88 GT (41,000 miles on it, stock except for a 1" drop in the front, 17" wheels, and KONI shocks), the paint is original. So far I've dropped about $3500 into it. Wheels and tires cost $1000, KONI shocks and the 1" drop springs in the front about $300, fixing of the A/C $1700, and misc. stuff like the alternator and routine maintanence. TCC solenoid and a headlight motor I repaired myself.
I just got the white '86 SE a couple of weeks ago, so far its taken about $300 for heater core replacement (did myself, $50), changing of the spark plugs (again did myself), coolant flush, cleaning of the injectors, and some other misc. stuff. I'm planning on dropping about another $13,000 into it as soon as I sell my Z28. That will probably include $8800 for a 3800SC swap from FastFieros, converting at that time from the 4-speed muncie to a 5-speed getrag. Another $400 for a CD player, another couple hundred for a subwoofer. Maybe a 12" Corvette brake upgrade. The wheels you see on the red '88 will probably end up on the SE and I'll put my 15" honeycomb wheels back on the GT. Also planning a 1" drop in front and back in the '86, KONI shocks and struts, a rear swaybar. I'm not really into comfort or luxury so I'll leave the interior alone .
And oh yeah, to further prove my obsession, I check this forum about 3-4 times a day at least. PLEASE HELP ME ------------------ I am the signature virus, please put me in your signature so I can spread

Ohhh lets see, my 87 GT. Ive put about 9,000 into it including the cost of the car. Stock 87 GT-3000, Paint job-3000, wheels and tires-1500, motor-500. suspension-1000. And just think the entire interior and the engine swap has to be done so it will all total probably 15,000+ in another couple of years. And that doesent even count the hundreds of hours of labor that me and my dad did. But it gets looks and i get comments and questions everyday on it, so yes i love it and it was worth every penny and every hour

If I include all the tools and stuff I've bought to work on the thing that I would not have bought if I did not have it I am into it for $23k, ouch. Hope the wife does not read this.....
probably about 4k total. and i think it could have come out better...
if i get me a 88 w/ a 5speed... you wouldnt wanna see how much cash would get thrown at it.... Trueleo intake, Sprint Headers, H272 Cam, custom 2.5" exhaust, a little N20
i could see me dropping 10k in a fiero that is a 5speed.
