Hey guys I just got a new Pioneer radio (CD/MP3/Etc) put into my Fiero, and I got some free 6.5" speakers with it. Is there any way to mount them in the door? I did a search and it looks like AusFiero sells pods for it? I was looking at either putting those 6.5" speakers into the doors, or some extra bass speakers from my Camaro. My Camaro has a 6-speaker system (stock), 2 in the doors, 2 in the rear, and 2 in the middle with the rear seats that act as subwoofers. They sound pretty nice for their size. I'd like to get them into my Fiero's doors because I want a sub but I don't want a gigantic tube or anything.
Also, does anyone know where to get a glove box for the Fiero that goes up in the dash map pocket? I've seen them before. If I get rid of my door pockets I'd like to get the glovebox to get more storage.
The person that owned my car before me tried the smae thing, now I have two holes for speakers that let cold air in all winter long. the hole lines up with the bottom of the window when its down. So it didnt work for him. Brad
Ok, Let me give this a shot for ya. Glove boxes can be ordered from FieroStore.com - That is an easy one to answer for ya man.
Stereo stuff. Here goes, You can re-shape the holes in the doors to fit those speakers. After you to that, Go to a local car stereo shop and buy some product called Dynomat wich is a material that keeps sound in the car giving you the benefit of getting better sound quality in the car, Not making the sound so loud outside the car and also it can act a some insulation to stop the cold from comming in. It is a little pricey but you won't need alot. Just push the dinomat in the hole then put you speaker in the hole then screw the speaker in place. Then VOILA you have the problem solved.

Cutting down the door panel and relocating all the fiero hardware and installing the speaker was the easy part. Making it pretty has taken me several interations and it's still not right to my satisfaction. That picture was taken right when I first mounted them. This is the latest iteration and I need at least one more iteration before I will be satisfied with them.
I dont know if I like the armrests like that... Can't you just fiberglass them so they end smooth and not abrupt.... You can make your own pods quite easily... Do a search over the internet for speaker pods.. Its not that hard to make..

Well the ends are fiberglassed. I could make the transition a little less abrupt but when I did that originally the door handles were too long and I trimmed them about three times before I just whacked off as much as possible. In the next iteration I will smooth out that transition. Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you still have the corners you cut off though? The arm rest winds down on the firebird.. I mean to sound harsh or pointing something out that you probally all know already. I'll shut up now.. lol

The armrest itself just kind of stops like that on the Firebird, but the surrounding plastic gradually smooths into the door. Given that the firebird panel is about a foot longer than the Fiero it would be impossible to have the exact same shape, but I could have smoothed it in better. What you see now was a quickie version that I did before the car went to New Orleans. At the time flat was the easiest thing to do. I think your suggestion is a good one, I just haven't had the time to work on it since then.
jscott I think it looks fantastic! Although if I were to do it I'd make it all one color (black if with leather interior, grey if with cloth, etc). But what I was looking for was a speaker that would go into the door and look stock, it doesn't necessarily have to be flush. Right now the car has 2 speakers up in the dash, and 2 speakers in each headrest. I thought it'd be neat to put my extra Camaro bass speakers in the doors to get some decent bass without chopping up the interior all that much.

Well like most areas of the Fiero, there isn't a lot of real-estate in the doors to mount a speaker and have it look stock. The best bet is one of the commercial speaker pods out there on the market. If you don't already have the factory sub, you might as well ad that as it doesn't take up any space. You can get the enclosure from the Fiero Store and add rodney Dickman's speaker and the amp of your choice for the best sound.
