Well, I thought I'd go ahead and show the forum the new Billet Valve Covers that are getting ready to be released here in less than a week or so. They are made by my friend Tom, off of ClubGP, otherwise known as animuL performance (www.animul.com)
Anyways here are some teaser pics of one.

looks pretty good, wasn't a big fan of polished things in the engine bay it's kind of growing on me after seeing Dave's DOHC motor
I know the pricing is a bit high and will scare most a way.. but I know they aren't cheap to produce and if you had people set in stone on buying them that'd drastically reduce costs. Now to bad I didn't consider a whipple before my IC
Well since you HATE shiny things in the enging bay.......OK I Will take them off your hands!
since they are USED I know that the price will be way cheap
HEY what happened to ya ??? I thought you were going to Dallas ? I drove all the way up there to meet ya! had fun anyway ( see the spring fling thread)

I will explain my position in these valve covers....
The other set of billet valve covers were made by a member here on PFF named Greg.. He wanted me to handle the emails and selling of the valve covers for him since many people call me about the 3800 engines, and I wanted to add these to my package installs for about half the price of my cost. I have waited 4 years for someone to finally tool these valve covers from a block of aluminum. I have a CNC mill, but it is a older model that I would not want to sit there and tool on a block of aluminum for 3 - 4 hours per valve cover. So, Greg did finish about 3-4 sets of various styles.
I purchased the set with FASTFIEROS on them for $475. Greg then made the comment that the price was increasing to about $550 on the next set to me. So, I came in with the price of $600 as I posted. Of course I was including shipping from me to you also in this. I had hoped Greg would find a way to reduce the cost of these.
Then when I posted these on CGP, Tom pops in and indicates that he can make these same billet type valve covers for ALOT less. He emails me about getting a prototype set going and I funded some money to him to get this project going with him. He sent me the pics to what Amir is showing off a few days ago and indicated that he would try to do a group buy between CGP and PFF on these. If about 25 sets can be put together on a group buy, we are talking about $289, maybe less per SET of billet valve covers.
Once I recieve the valve cover from Tom, I will compare the workmanship, fit and finish with Greg's. One thing Greg did do that was neat, was billet a oil fill to one valve cover. Tom's valve cover will have to have the bolt in style oil fill I posted on my website upgrade page.
More on this all later...

Not that I have a 3800 or anything but you have a point. Just went out and looked at my 2.8 and you really have to look to see the valve cover on the far side, with no supercharger in the way. A vendor may have another profit source if he sold just the one visible. Were I to spend the money for a 3800sc swap, I would want a set, but others may not.
I see no reason why there shouldnt be 25 or more ppl wanting a set between the Fiero folks and the GP club. I am in for a set of them once they get the group buy put together, one set will be enough to do bth my cars so the price sounds good to me.
I am thinking these would need some run time on them before they went up for sale. Wonder if they need someone as a test mule to run them on a daily driver. I would be more than willing to test them out for a good deal on a set.

I talked to Tom about the price. He said retail price should be around $300 a set. And with a group purchase will go down from there. If you look at Billet covers for other engines, like LS1's, they sell for nearly $375 a set. And those do not mention anything about plating. As far as the oil fill goes. He was going to design one cover so that it can use the standard style oil cap or breather. Jegs or Summit has hundreds of them. He also said they will come either triple chrome plated or anodized in a variety of colors. Clear anodizing will be used for people wanting no color, because it will protect the part from corrosion and scratching. Price will include any plating. The final details are getting worked out this week. After that the group purchase will be on.
