I have been working on this off and on for a few days, I am getting to the point that I have most of the dimensions and layout done. This will be a slim headlight with a marker light of the same height beside it. The marker is more to keep the look symetrical, but will function. The door will open about half of the origional height. It will look stock unless you know what it is supposed to look.
Opinions? Critiques? I will be adding a trim ring to the front and sides similar to the origional, so the headlight bracket will not be visable.

I like it. How are the marker lights controlled, is there a separate switch to turn them on and off? Will they be DOT legal, and how about aiming them. Can you get them aimed correctly?

More info, and a plus for you.
The marker lights will likely tie into the lower factory park and turn signals. They will add light and visability, but that is simply to keep it profesional looking. I thought about centering the bulb and having a wider trim band on both sides, but felt it would look wrong. This way it fills the opening.
The headlight and marker is out of a Pontiac something or other. I found them at U-Pull-It. I will go back and find out exactly what they came from. When I bought it I was not sure if I could get it to fit or not. I will pull out the glued in low beam hallogen and replace it with a high/low hallogen bulb. The light output will be a legal low beam and a high beam that is brighter than a low but not the pencil pattern of high. I doubt that anyone will be able tell the lights are not factory ilumination. They are fully adjustable. The headlight bracket has both adjusters and a level built in.

DOT legal lights would be awesome. I thought there were some sealed beam hi/lo lights out there already? I wouldn't be ooposed to a Fog Light next to it, although get this- it would have to be lower than (not neccesarily BElow) the headlights to be legal. I think a second signal light would be redundant...even though I have them in my standard -size H4 conversions...

If there are any lights that are high and low beam and are so slim I have not found them. I got the idea of removing the single filament bulb and replacing it from someone else on here. They had a write up on how to do it but I seem to have lost it. The light next to it can be used for other uses. I have toyed with the idea of installing a small driving light in the opening but wanted a square light there. I thought that a round one would look aftermarket. I am going to look at some of the very small driving lights and see if I can mill out the lens housing and have the light lens drop into the factory housing. The lens could be used for any number of purposes, I do agree that it would be redundant, but many cars have more than turn signal.
I am going to do some more fitting on the trim cover tomorrow. I have the lower bracket working. It actually looks a lot better than the picture I took. I should have moved to a differant angle. When I get the prototype working I will have the brackets CNC cut for an exact fit.

If this works out like I think it will I will have this kit up for sale. I will have the brackets (there are three needed for each side) CNC plasma cut and then powder coated. It will be a total bolt in conversion. I think the biggest hassle will be getting a large number of the headlight buckets from the local yards. My plan is to offer it as a kit, less the headlight parts. That way people will be able to raid wrecking yards all over the country The small marker lights will likely be an option for the kit, I think I can get brand new ones for not that much money. Someone with little mechanical skill will be able to install the conversion in a couple hours. There will be no cutting of anything for it. If you did it and decided you don't like it you could remove it with no evidance it was ever done.

What about the old Grand Prix lights? (they are slim) Not sure of the year... That nose would look interesting on the Fiero, too... (know which one I'm talking about?)
This looks really nice. I had the same idea a while back but haven't had the time yet to get it together. I'm glad someone has finally done it. Beautiful job. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of them completed.

Well... I am either doing these or a bucket for flushmount's that will universal.. That way you can do whatever light's you want as well...

You could make the light on the side the type that lights the area in which you're going to turn like the luxury cars use. I don't know what you call them they come on when you turn your signal lights on to turn.
Good luck with your project!

I made a lot of progress today (YEA!) I have the bottom plate and the mount plate (final design after numerous tweaking). The trim plate that will hide the bracket is paterned out and should be in plate by the end of the week.

I will have them ready to sell in a couple more weeks. The bottom brackets are made on the first run, just have to finish the trim ring.
They are going to be selling for $95 delivered. Cut from 16 guage steel, semi-gloss black powder coated, fully aimable. BUT, you will need to buy a set of Harbor Freight driving lights and a low beam (with adjustors) for a 91 Pontiac Boniville. Depending on your junk yard you likely will have less than $50 to spend on the driving lights and the headlight. The kit will take almost no tools and very minimal skills to install. It will fit with no modifications to the car.
I have looked and looked, I have not been able to find any lights that will fit with two lights like the photoshop. They are just all too wide. I have settled on the driving light next to the low beam. If you are in an area that has inspections it is possible to pull out the low beam single filament bulb and replace it with a high/low beam bulb. The high beam pattern will be off but it is unlikely that many inspectors will be able to know it was altered or even know it was not there in the first place.
