To exagerate how a cai sounds on a Fiero i ran a dryer hose from the intake up and over my sail panal into my driver window and took it down the street. I have to say, holy freakin cow!!!!!!!!!!! It sounded wicked, now im definately getting a CAI. what do you think?
I get the same basic sound through the stock air cleaner just by removing the water diverter box in the fenderwell and running flex tubing from the air cleaner to the fender vent. Not as loud as having the pipe in your ear, of course, but the same basic sound.
I suppose if I ran next to the car and put my ear up to the fender vent while someone floored it, the sound would be pretty similar.

eh, make your indy scoop or one/both of your fi-air-o scoops functional as an intake and you can hear it all the time, especially with the sunroof flipped up or taken out. i've had both on my 4cyl and thought the sound was interesting, but i don't know if i'd get tired of it if they were hooked to an engine that was really sucking some air.

West Coast Fiero is probably the best for a stock 2.8, but a CRX intake from eBay is cheaper. Of course they require some modification and you get a cheaper filter and everything too, instead of WCF's plug-and-play intake with a real K&N

Yeah i know the stock one is a CAI just muffled. Thats why i want to get an unmuffled one. And it would maybe the engine bay look a little better than that black rubber POS. I still havn't gotten in yet but for 30$ shipped it can't be too bad.

Now that is much more closer to the real thing. At least to mine in the 3.4. The growl above 3000 RPM is very likeable And no, it is not stuck to your ear. Will sound like that from the driver side.
