I have to sell my '87 GT, but I am going to paint it first. I'd like to enjoy it until it sells and I don't plan to give it away. My first choice is Orange metallic, like the Lamborghini Murcialago has, with silver ground effects. However, I can get it done for about 1/2 the price by just having the top surfaces repainted black. I would also consider blues and yellows, although Pearce green is cool too (sort of a yellow/green.) It was Oldsdoctor's 1987 GT I bought from him, and has sweet 18" rims. The only thing holding me back from doing the orange is that I think I am going to do that color on my Countach when it is completed, and by not doing it now may help motivate me to get my butt in gear on the Countach.

If you are planning to sell the car, orange metallic may appeal to only a limited number of potential buyers. I'd suggest a repaint a stock color, maybe what ever the car was initially.
Giallo Modena (Ferrari's Modena yellow) or a flashy metallic red - maybe even a pearlcoat red if it doesn't look too "rice". A tasteful racing stripe may be a good thing

I say what ever the stock color is. It seems that people buy the crap out of black cars but dont pay much for them. If the car is an 87 and you are going to paint all the inner parts too i would paint it the maroon color. But like most people said red is the most obvious color out there. People pay more for blue and maroon than any other color i have seen this on ebay tracking every sale of fieros for 4 years.
a lot of people don't like white - and yellow may scare a lot off - red and blue are always good bets, but red is also a stock color - so probably red
On the '87's blue was a stock color as well, the only year to get it. I'd paint the car blue, maybe a light blue metallic so it mimics the stock blue that '87 GT's came with, but not as "pastel" looking. Or you could just paint it '87 blue and grey on the bottom and try and sell it as a blue '87 GT .

thanks for all the good advice. At this point, it's either back to black (cheapest), orange (funnest, okay, most fun) or blue (biggest payback.) That was good advice from the person who did the Ebay research (sorry I didn't quote you.)
I am in the process of color sanding.. what do you think? The first time I had it out I got a "what year is your Fiero? Nice car.." Goes up for sale soon, not planning to give it away by any stretch of the imagination...

Mine used to be black but is now a solid orange/red color.
I kinda like it but would prefer it to have a pearl lacquer to make it shimmer more.
The paint is OK but has some blisters (bad re-spray by previous owner), so I'm going to respray the car anyway but will keep it similar but with a pearlescent lacquer on top.

The other colour I'd consider is BMW diamond black which is a very dark gray.

If some of those comments/questions were directed at me... The color is a House of Kolors custom mix. If the new owner wants to divulge the mix, I'll have to leave that up to them. Yes, I did paint it myself, it really wasn't all that hard. This is the third car I've done. A really great site for body work and painting is www.autobody101.com they have standard information to read as well as an active forum that really can be helpful. Can anyone tell me the proper html code to get my pics to display as oppossed to the links I have shown? If it has to be done with the pip program only, has anyone done it through Geocities, or can you send me to a good free posting place I can use? thanks

thanks you guys! You guys crack me up! Can I say you guys anymore? So Darius, you are going to have to explain to me the code on posting here... I can't seem to figure it out. Joe ~ I got your message about the hoods, only I don't have enough paint left to do one, so it's going to have to stay as is, sorry Darius. Thanks for posting the pics, that's cool! D XCX (that was via Aidi, my cat) she says 'hi'
Countach, that looks gorgeous! I like how you did the moulding silver instead of body color. Looks real sharp!
Thanks, yea I think I am the only one with this color combo to do the moulding in silver, although there is a sweet one with silver ground effects. Yes, Darius, there is a wing! ;-) I just haven't finished buffing it out yet, so it's staying off until I do!
