Does anyone know who makes the Centre Consoles with the Sub enclosures?
I'm hoping to get one from somewhere where shipping won't cost me as much as the console. Currently I have a home made setup with a 5¼" speaker but I'd like to clean it up and go with and 8 or 10".
Would anyone like to post pics of their setups?
Thanks, Todd

They look nice, but like he said, they donnt sound all that great......But ausfiero sells a nice product. My 8" kenwood sounds better in the footwell than my JLW6 ever did in the centre consol.

Really, I only need something that will give me a little bottom end
I currently have JBL 4x10's & 4x6's as well as Alpine 6x9's in the doors. The car is plenty loud, but I am looking for more bass without sacrificing any space.

I might recommend a JL 6W0 powered by a 70-80 watt amp, under the dash where the factory performance sound subwoofer would have been located. Or maybe an 8" there instead. Several people have gotten boxes fabricated to do that, on the forum. You'll get plenty of low end fill with that. I was thinking of going with either 2 6W0s in my car, mounted in the lower bit of the b-pillar trim, or one of them under the dash. I'll probably end up with the latter.

I have 2 8s in my center console and they sound awsome, I don't know where your coming from saying there not efficient because the human ear cannot detect bass as well as other ranges of sound. You can feel the bass in my car run through your body and its loud enough to blair out any other noise.

I actually have some questions about these as well. I at one point bought two Orion 10 inch 500w woofers with the intent of putting them in the trunk like what the plasma looked like but didnt get around too it, the guy at the audio place said that even if I could hear it over the engine that it wouldnt be very clear just more of a feel. Being a bit of an audiophile I care more about clarity than ummpphhh. So I am looking into the console box but was dissapointed to find out that it is not sealed in the back, what the hell is the point of having a box that isnt sealed! Anyways so what it comes down to is buying the box and having the local pro audio shop seal the back ect. OR go with something else OR have them build a custom console box but I dont know what I want to do. Also I want it to easily transplant to an 88 GT from my 84 SE when I get around to buying one

The one I had was sealed in the back. And they should switch from 84-88 no worries.......Unless im wrong.

Alternatively, you could build a box to sit in the spare tire well instead. I've seen an install or two that did this, and cut a hole through to the cabin for a port hole. If you want more clarity than "it's hard to breathe" bass, though, I might suggest a 6 or 8 instead of the 10s. In the 86 GT that I used to have, it had the peformance sound system in it, but the subwoofer and housing for it were missing. I rode around with an 8" Rockford in a small truck box sitting in the passenger footwell, powered by the factory subwoofer amp. That was well more than enough bass in the car. And that car was especially loud, due to the giant hole in the forward exhaust manifold. At one point, I drove around with the two 10s inside of the huge trunk box that I had, from when I had an 89 Cav'. It was ridiculous.

Hmm. I'm running an AusFiero style box (Pretty sure it's an AusFiero box anyway) in the center console, running a Kicker CVR8 and an Alpine 360W amp. No complaints really, I run it as a sealed box instead of ported, and I think it sounds really good.
With this setup, the bass doesn't completely drown out the rest of the sound, but just fills in the bottom to give it a nice foundation.
My only gripe with it is that my elbow hits the corner of the box when I go to shift, and since it sticks out past the seat, it can be a little tight fitting for guys who are especially broad accross the shoulders.

That's EXACTLY what I'm after I'm 5'4", 145lbs......not too worried about not having enough space
Does AusFiero still make those enclosures? I've had my car parked for 2 years so I'm just getting back into the Fiero Fanaticism again....Did Jim sell his business?
Thanks for the help

I have something similar. I bought from a fellow member, I think it's custom job. I have gotten compliments on the look. I haven't wired it up yet so can't comment on the sound. Also it does kinda interfere with elbow room. See a pic at the following. Mine is more like WCF's in that it replaces the shift surround, Aus's only replaces the glove box piece and is a bit smaller. I had fibersmiths, wasn't a fan of the way it tilts towards the driver side. Also the fiberglass just didn't seem as sturdy as wood. Would probably rattle with the bass?? My suggestion is, if you have any kinda of woodworking ability to make a custom one. They are pretty simply built for the basic one like I have. The hardest thing is probably getting it upholstered. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/057034.html

You know, I have no idea if he is or not, but I think so. I snagged mine secondhand from somebody on the forum in the mall. I'm used to it, so it doesn't bother me that much, but my fiance (5'6) says it interferes a little bit with her arm on the shifter. I think I could alleviate that a lot by installing a short shifter though
My Biggest problem I've had is that I hit my elbow on it when I'm steering vigorously (autocross). Gave myself a nasty rugburn the other weekend. Guess I just have to wear long sleeves But that wasn't the front face where the speaker sits either, I think I probably would have hit the stock console on the corner, wouldn't have had the rugburn problem because the stocky is padded.
Now that I've had it a while, I think I might be happier if I would take it back out, try to peel the carpeting back (yeah right) and modify it some. Either that or build a new one, one that narrows down toward the speaker more aggresively, I think that would make it fit my shoulders better (I'm 5'11x180)
