Well, I finally got the 11 second timeslip that I have been trying for for 3 years. But is doesnt look exactly how I hoped. Long story. Went to a street car shootout, all licenced insured cars no race cars. First, I run a few low 12s. 12.474@ 108 with pump gas timing. Turn the timing up a bit and get a new best time. 12.145 @ 112.28. Hot lap a few times, run 12.221, 12.326, both at 112, then a 12.320 at 109.76. The whole time my transmission is hating me. Takes 1.5 seconds (from scan data) between the time it commands second and the time the RPMs come down. By the end of the day it is going neutral before it shifts into second. Figured my chances of running 11s were gone, thats ok my fianc tells me the video camera battery is dead. Figured I should see if my exaust is restrictive at least learn something from the day, so I dropped the exhaust. Pull to staging, launch, wheelie for the 5th time that day, and snap break an axle. Push back to the pits, grab the spare axle and 25 minutes later I am back in the staging lanes, friends are looking at me in shock. Stage, launch, wheelie, no second gear then it grabs, and run the rest of the way. As I am coming down the return road my cell starts ringing. Answer it, it is my fianc. She screams 11.96, 11.96. Im thinking finally, 11s, and with a crap tranny to boot. So I pull up the timing shack to get my time slip and the girl is holding a tiny piece of paper with a black stripe on it. She says sorry the printer jammed. I said that is my first 11 second time slip. She looked even more depressed than I felt. I ran up the timing tower and ask if they can reprint a timeslip. They cant but print me a list of all my runs to that point. Tried to repeat the 11 second effort and get a proper timeslip but followed up with a 12.096, hotlapped and got a 12.130 both at 113.66. The track shut down before I could get it cooled off and try again. All in all a pretty good day. Got 2 new personal bests, 12.145, then 11.962. New best 60 of 1.569. New best MPH of 113.84. All with a crap 2nd gear. Changed an axle in less than hour. Drove the car onto the trailer under its own power always a good thing. A girl I know taped my 11, but she is not sure how good it is. I hope to post it when I get it. I will also post a collection of the 4 runs I did get on video sometime this week. Here are the pics of the 12.320 I ran before the axle snapped, the print out of the times I ran for the day up to my 11, and a pic of the 12.096 run. I am car 442 (apparently it is D. Nicols usual number whoever that is) http://www3.telus.net/public/cornic/12320.JPGhttp://www3.telus.net/public/cornic/Printoutand11secondslip.JPGhttp://www3.telus.net/public/cornic/12096.JPGhttp://www3.telus.net/public/cornic/12096big.JPG

Congratulations, you are one determined man. I bet you are just more anxious to fix that tranny and try again now that you have tasted success. Good Luck. --Nathan-- ------------------ Finally the carbed, camed, 350 is in the 88GT and deafening people on a regular basis. Please E-mail me at Wicked88GT@yahoo.com

4T60 is coming out, and a 4T65 is going in. I don't want to mess with this piece any more. The guys with the 65s don't seem to have a problem with gear shifts, just chains breaking and that is fixable with a chain upgrade. I have had the 60e apart so many times I can do it in my sleep I think.

I bet you have a lot better times in that car, as you had some incredibly random 660FT times. You ran .2 seconds slower when you ran .8 seconds faster on the 1/8. Got any scans of your runs down the track? ------------------

I have some scans but it is not fueling or spark that is causing the random 330s.
The tranny is pooched. Second gear is useless. It goes neutral before going into second now.
I picked up a 2002 4T65E today and the Torque convertor is on its way from ZZP. A true 3000 stall instead of a sunfire convertor will hopefully help the launch, as I will be running the 3.29 gears in the new tranny rather than the 3.73 I have now.
I am going to run the 4T60 until late July as there is a 100' race comming up and I want the 3.73 gears for that. I will just hold first the whole way. After that the 65 will go in and hopefully a new time later this summer.

You will love the 3000 stall and the 3.29 gears together, I run them on my cammed/IC L-67. The 65 will hold up to what you need done for many runs. What are your MODs or are they listed and I missed them.

Yes, I'd like to see a list of mods also. Are you using a 4T60E HD or just the regular version? Curious cause I have the 60E HD and haven't had a problems with it (yet). Good times, be sure to post on the 1/4 mile times list so I can update ya. ------------------ 1988 Purple Fiero GTw/SC3800 conversion Best ET with 3.0 pulley,XPHOT cam, SS I/C and 105lb Valve springs: 12.38@110mph Best 60 Foot ever: 1.699

good job...can't wait to see thepics or video! Where exactly are you breaking your axles? is uit the shaft or the spider gear or somewhere else. If i can manage a 1.5 60 i am sure i could get a 11.5 for sure. But since i broke my axle ( Spider gear) last year ive been afraid to launch the car too hard. . ------------------ Fiero w/ 1998 Supercharged 3.8 V-6 Intercooled Best ET: 12.20@ 114.90 mph (street tires) 11.74@115 mph (drag radials)

Stock Shortblock L67 Ported Heads Ported Blower XP cam 105 springs Double Rollmaster Ported 2000+ Northstar Throttlebody 2.8" pulley Electric Waterpump
Trans: 1994 4T60E non HD unit. 3.73 Gears Sufire convertor a bunch different hardparts and clutches have been in it so I won't list them
Axles are mostly breaking the Spider. But I did break one passenger side one in the tranny, broke the part that goes around the output shaft.
I carry spare axles anytime I am at the track. I think this one took 10 minutes to swap.

Sorry,
TOG headers open for the 11.96
No intercooler.
Having problems with Microsoft Movie maker. AVI's I get off the video camera are 250 Meg, but I haven't been able to convert them to WMV and get the size down. Hopefully I can figure that out this week and get some vids up.

How are you getting away with running a 2.8 pulley on a Non-ICed motor? Are you gettitng any KR? Who tuned your PCM, I think I need to talk to them.

Nope not for sale. But I do know Troy. 2.8" pulley (12-13lbs boost) I run on pump gas with 16 degrees ignition advance. 109 octane Sunoco fuel from TA Lubes in Red Deer I run with up to 23 degrees ignition advance. Either case I see blips of up to about 0.5 degrees of KR. I tuned the PCM myself using DHP Powrtuner. I have played with it alot to get it to this point I used to get 6 degrees of KR on pump gas but have worked on it for over a year now to make it run like it does now. I would say a powrtuner is the single most important mod anyone can buy. Make it your first mod. Then you will have a scanner to stay safe. And a way to optimize your combination. Mail order tunes suck. They cost me 7 pistons and 2 blocks. I haven't popped a single piston since tuning myself.
