That was a full custom tube chassis... the only thing a production fiero and that car have incommon are the name.
What he said. Even the emblem was different.

I think it was built in England and the Entech was the 1st. DGP didnt get the contrct like they hoped. There is a book on how to build it out there but good luck finding it. I would love to drive one leagally on the street. SC
from the side, yes i see many more, and i am in no way knocking the imsa fiero, i think it's byootiful! i wish i could have been into imsa/gtp/group6/c racing back then. i didn't discover it until the mid-90's, when i read a book called 'Anatomy and Development of the Sports Prototype' and i was hooked on closed wheel prototype and sprint racing series ever since. well, maybe 'LeMans' the movie helped too. i built a 1/10scale 962 RC car a few years ago. i wonder if they make a Fiero lexan shell.

I see them going for sale all of the time but i dont have 250,000 to spend on one. A set of panels went not too long ago on ebay like 8 months for 6000.

I must be tired or blind as I do not see FIERO on that car at all. Hmmmmmmmm.SC
I think if you took a picture of the 1990 FIERO and a SPICE FIERO GTP car place them side by side you could see were some of the new design ideas came from...
These cars were bui;t by Spice in England. There as stated had no stock parts from Pntiac on them and ran SD 4 cylinder engines in the GTP light class.
They were not tube chassie cars like the Huffackers but a composite chassie car [like a 962 Porsche] with carbon fiber bodys. The hood in the 80 cost arounf 10K and the rear deck was around 15-20K. If I recall these cars were around or over $500,000 new.
Pontiac styled these cars with Fiero GT styling cues on the race bodys so they are there but not really in your face. Look in the Witzenburg book of the GT fastback concept drawings and you can see some where the cues came from. Keep in mind this was a race car first and promotional car second so litte of the street car was of vlaue on track in the GTP L class.
This was a ready made race car for sale to all and was raced here and Europe. After the first few years a V8 version was made and called the Firbird GTP and ran in the bigger class. This caqr at theat time was sold to anyone who wanted to rund what ever engien. V8 Chevys, V6 Accura, V6 Buick etc were all used and this car saw action up till the early 90's with different power plants. It was a good race car and many are still around.
Entech as far as I ever saw was just a sponsore on the first GTP light car and only did work for GM on the production car. Spice did the work in house in England.
No kits were made but body parts are still around and have been sold on E bay. You would have to build a frame for them as nothing will fit a stock Fiero.
I was lucky to watch these car race in the day and they were very dominate in their class. Even after the Fiero the Acura Spice won the Championship with Computech.
By the way when they were changed to the Firebird they did make small changes to give it some small Firebird styling cues. They were so small may people confuse it with the Fiero. Best to look at the rear wing as the Name was on it of what it was andthe bird many times had a bigger wing.
The Spice car even won championships in Europe as a Fiero with Gordon Spice at the wheel.
As for the 1990 looking like the race car, They may have added some of this to the street car with hopes to get people convinced there was a little street cat in the the race car.
As stated the emblem was different.
