I'm getting bored so it's time I find another project for my 88GT! I've been looking at different hood vents and saw a couple at e-bay and wanted some opinions.

How do you think they would look on a Fiero and more importantly can they be installed so they are functioning to allow radiator heat to escape and keep the front end down when traveling at highway speeds. Thanks for your advice and opinions!

personally, I would consider the last one out of those choices - looks very similar to the one that Rockcrawl use to sell (bit different on the lead edge angle)...

...I also kind of like these ones (I think they are from a Sunbird):

I agree. the 3rd one is suitable.

I have the Sunbird vents. They look pretty good

I fabbed a brace to go lengthwise under them to keep them from denting.

Personnally, I'm planning on changing them over the winter to a different style. I guess I'm fickle. When I cut them out, somebody is welcome to them for a nominal amount.

When we were doing Miss Debbie's 4.9 we used grand am vents and I am very pleased with the final look.

Thanks for the replies and posting the pics Andrew. The Sunbird and Grand Am vents look real nice. Personally, I like the look of the first one the best but #1.Will it make my Fiero look like a Firebird and #2 the measurements cut it real close to the top and bottom edges and the sides will just clear the headlight doors as it gets larger towards the windsheild. I've seen plenty of pics here at pff of hood vents installed like the bottom two but not the top one. Could someone photo-shop that vent on any random Fiero for me to get an idea how it would look? Thanks! Marc

Great job Andrew! It looks real. It might sit a little higher. Height dimensions show side center 3", H center 2" (inches). Can you shop it to mine please! I sent you a pic via e-mail so I wouldn't have to down-size it.

Thanks Andrew! Looks real!

I like it but it looks like I'm trying to make my Fiero look like a Firebird.
I'm fortunate enough to have attracted the attention of an awesome member here that has a Aus stage 2 hood vent he's selling me It'll look sweet to go along with the stage 2 side scoops which was another fortunate score made here by another awesome PFF member!

Wow! Is that GTO hood vent the same as the one for auction at e-bay? I checked the dimensions they listed with a tape against my Fiero hood and it shouldn't overlap the front like that nor interfere with the headlight doors? I guess it can be trimmed though without cutting into the vents. Keep us posted with pics as your project progresses!

Archie has the Warber hood (that everybody has copied), too. I prefer the high rise scoop like on the ZR2 (or whatever it's called/Pisas version of the 'Vette).

I have a GT40 style hood scoop now. It works great, but looks bad.

I have been thinking about installing a http://www.drivenvisions.com Extreme Extractor Hood Scoop on a spare hood I have to see how it works and looks.

I have been looking around for places that sell fiberglass hood scoops to find other options. I am looking for something functional that also looks good.

This is what I am doing: salvaged a wrecked 2004 Mustang Cobra hood and cut the scoops out. Molding them in and hope to have it finished soon. Heres the link:

So far of the hood vents I have seen, the Rockcrawl vents are still the best.
