I'm so excited .... I had to share! Below are pictures of my baby (the IMSA) on the ground for the first time after the body change. I have been putting 10 to 20 per week on this car since the beginning of January. The wheels came off the ground around then too. The car has been in the air for the past 4 months.
The alignment is not complete so the camber is measuring about -3.0 deg, but I can safely run a -2.0 deg so this will just give me an idea where the wheels will set. I will get more accurate measurements for the new wheels before I order them. Can you say... "dropping 40 lbs of rolling mass baby!" She is really starting to com together. I will try to have here ready for the paint shop by Monday. I told them they could have the body panels for 2 weeks.
Yes. The ride height is correct..... 3" front 3.25" rear
So will the wheels sit in that far or are you going to push them out further....
I'm putting 14" slicks in the rear. I'm having trouble getting traction under about 60 to 70 mph with the 12 slicks. I'm also upgrading to a 3 piece aluminum wheel front and rear. The yellow ones will be old news.

Who is the manufacturer of the rear fenders. They look great and are much wider than the street version.
There really is no manufacturer for these. I got them from a friend of a friend as a favor. Basically it took almost 5 years to find them. They are the same ones used on the last IMSA cars.
They measure 78" from outside edge to outside edge cross car.

**** looks bomb man, you are going to keep it all yellow correct?
Yes sir.... stays yellow. I'll have the blue scoop on top and probably the blue rubstrip. I use tape so I can change it (the rub strip color) when I want. Not sure what color the chin air splitter should be... Any suggestions?
So its 40 lbs. lighter? It looks great, do you have any videos of it racing?
40 lb reduction in the wheels alone. Should be about 60 lbs total. Trying to get to 2100 lbs even. That will put me (conservatively with the ram air at about 3.2 lbs per hp. That should get me to the next turn to use "the new shoes"... (Iike that term )
645 hp at the crank on the dyno. No idea what ram air adds so figure safely 4 psi of boost at 100 mph. Should easily be worth 8% hp improvement to bring me to abou 700 even. However, I know that opening the headers up 1/16" on the dyno increases the HP to 688 with no loss in previous hp. The new peak is 7500 rpm instead of 6700. It just keeps pulling. The motor has several safe dyno runs to 8200 rpm. Paul V. builds a heck of a motor.
As for the video... I have some, but not impressive or downloadable. After the 25th I should have some of Waterford from the in-car cam. I plan on posting it somewhere.

Ahhh, you turned fastback on me. No seriously ... I like the new and improved IMSA.
Tina
I turned widebody on you. I wanted the notch back but I couldn't find one that was as wide as I needed. This one measures 78" from outside to outside. The old body only measured 68". The fastback thing just happened. Actually (and it may grow on me) I don't like the whale tail much. I prefer the steep wing like the old back end. Aero-wise, the whale tail is better and will provide some good downforce.

That would be a matter of opinion, Kento. I personally think it's an improvement..
Seriously, Paul, congrats. I think the car looks fantastic! The only thing that would concern me would be the sailpanel areas. Seems like what you have there would create quite a blind spot, compared to the notchback body. Overall, though, I'm liking what I'm seeing!

I didn't want the gear shift knob to be lonely. (the only other stock item.)
Actually I thought the "Pontiac" in lights would be cool and the IMSA cars ran with factory tail lights. To save weight I could make flat panels with a fake looking factory light and small brake lights. Just have to paint the "Pontiac" orange/red. Open to suggestions.

Gorgeous? No... SCARY: Like it eats other race cars for a light snack. NICE.
Exactly. At "other" car shows, people ask the silly question (as if it matters) "How fast can it go?" My reply.... faster than it looks. I love Vipers... TASTE LIKE CHICKEN!

I like the Pontiac light up tails on the fastback GT's, that was one of the signature Fiero things when they came out, and although the Ferrari style lights look good on some GT's, if you want people to know you are rolling in a Pontiac that is the way to go.

Mike.... Actually the really isn't a blind spot. You don't turn your head on the track and even if I wanted to, I couldn't due to the safety equipment. However it is difficult to see out the back mirror. The current plan is to install a rear mount camera and a screen on the dash.

That is Jack's car. It looks okay, but I like the factory lights. The body is made to accept these. I will have the "Pontiac" Illuminated when the kill switch is on and there is power to the car. I am considering another gear shift knob.
