Well, the Great Lakes Fiero Show is coming up soon and bigger than ever.
Where?
Brian Finch Pontiac Buick, 700 Southdale Road in London
When?
Saturday, 9 August 2008. Lot opens at 9am, sign in happens whenever we can start, judging starts at noon and prizes start at 4pm. Early registrations welcome at http://www.fieros.ca/show/default.asp We'll have the entries all printed up for each early registration.
Registration is $20 at the gate.
What's up this year?
PBJ has, as always arranged for our accommodations and we'll have the west side of the lot again this year with lots of shade. New sponsors are welcome.
Every registered entrant will receive our new sail panel decal. If you aren't registered, or you want to buy one, they are $5 at the show. They are about 2" square and have a clear background with no white edging. They look really sharp on our black sail panels.
We'll have ice cold Slush Puppies on site this year plus hot dogs and burgers.
We're back to St. Thomas Dragway Park this year. It is for Test 'n Tune, however there will be Pontiac G cars there and some source of fun with our Fieros.
Stay tuned.

Well, count me in!! Is it as simple as showing up and signing in, or is there a registration process. My car will be back together by then for sure. I've had it for 3 weeks and it's already in pieces hehehe.

Hmmm, this show is running a little later then the previous years? Makes it easier for the GTA guys to get there on time.
Unfortunately I won't be there this year, my mother is getting married Friday and has plans for saturday afternoon with the family . Hopefully third time works out for her.
Actually we'll have things open earlier, but, we found that last year there were quite a few folks who were registering after 10am. At 9am we had relatively few registering. 11am is kind of late as you point out. Maybe 10am is better? Good suggestion Thumper
Gee I bought my latest car there this past month, and I just got my Fiero safetied, so i plan on being there, Fiero is not totally show worthy, but just going to meet everyone and have fun with the club. Can't wait!!

I'll put updates in the first posting for everyone's reference.
I'll be away for the next 2 weeks so don't expect a reply until the last week in June.
Last year we ended the judging before 4 pm. That left some gap in the program so the judging time can be pushed back a little so our GTA friends have an easier time for arrival.
Thanks Thumper for prodding my brain on this.

I've moved to a new webhost and have to rework a few things for the registration site, but I hope to have it all back up and running very soon so we can all register

Cool! I should be there. I will be good to meet some fellow Fiero fanatics for the first time! My car will be put to shame by lots of your cars by the looks of it...but its all good.
I've been out lining up sponsors today. We have lots of prizes and trophies due to the goodness of our sponsors, who include the Fiero Store, Partsource, Performance Unlimited, Brian Finch to name a few. If you know a sponsor please send me a PM and we'll sign them up.
This year we have a new addition, Slush Puppy. We'll have the Slush Puppy truck on site with Slush Puppies for a buck. Proceeds to the show thanks to Midenginemaniac.
We are trying to reduce registration fees this year also. Right now we have registration costs down to $20 per car. If we get enough sponsors, maybe we can make it less or even free.

We have 2 choices with the cold drinks, guys......
#1 is called "Plus" and is 99.9% natural. The base is apple juice, and only artificial ingredient is color, everything else comes from fruits and veggies, so its very health-consious. Downside to that stuff is loading up on 3 or 4 cups of that much fruit concentrate acts like---well, fruit concentrate. Think prunes. Think porta-potty. NOW!!!!!
#2 is the good old sugar we all remember as kids. Company still makes the sames stuff, and the sugar rush is exactly the same as it was 30 years ago .....dont know how many of our old bodies can handle that anymore ;-)
P-M me with the choices, and I'll grab a couple cases of whatever the majority count is.
9 August is Kitchener/Waterloo day as well as the Pontiac G Club and test 'n tune. Sounds like some of our 3800sc cars can have some fun For me, this will be the last outing for my carb'd v6 before the new motor.
For those who registered early last year, you will be receiving an email with early registration info. Early registration is free this year. (still $20 at the door)
If we've missed folks, my apology and if you don't get an email today you'll know I missed you. Just click on the link and you can sign up.

I think it was brought up last year, but is there a parking lot nearby maybe big enough to get a permit to set up a little auto-x course? Or is that a lot of planning and headaches?
Auto cross is a pretty big thing to do. You have to have the lot first, and insurance, and then all the cones, etc. as well as officiating and scoring.
We would almost have to make it a separate event and we'd need a few volunteers.

I have got SOOOOO much work to do on my car. I finally picked up Fiero doors pins and bushings last night, and a headliner (thanks to MidengineManiac). I am still having electrical problems, and now my car has just started choking out a few seconds after I start it. The engine running fine until 2 weeks ago. Arg... It never ends.
Anyone out there good at tracing electrical bugs under the dash??

Looking forward to this guys!! Good work on getting the web site up, my car won't win any awards but it will be fun to see your guys rides. I know there are some beautiful cars out there...saw some at the last cruise.
No problem Syme. There are quite a few guys/gals who have daily drivers or cars they have recently put on the road who feel the same way. This is the reason we have Daily Driver and Hard Luck awards, as well as a some great table prizes and door prizes. You won't be disappointed. Plus, lots of knowledgable folks to get ideas and advice from. Look for some professional help on rust treatment and detailing this year.
Here is the trophy list so far.
Hall of Fame award
¨ Best of show ¨ Best modified 1 st 2 nd 3 rd ¨ Best re-body 1 st 2 nd 3 rd ¨ Best Customized 1 st 2 nd 3 rd ¨ Best Notchback 1 st 2 nd 3 rd ¨ Best Fastback 1 st 2 nd 3 rd ¨ Best Daily driver ¨ Hard luck award

Pre-registrations are still coming in. we have close to half of our Fieros already registered. We'll have your completed registration in your registration kit with a couple of very nice registration gifts this year. It is a good idea to have your mods listed for judging purposes.
Sue B Doo will be in the tent again this year as will Ellen.
