Xerces Blackthorn, pontiackid86 and I went to 2 Junkyards today, the u-pullit in shoemakersville, pa didnt have any Fieros... but the one in New Ringgold, pa had 4... all 4cyl, 1 was an 85 that was just dumped there 3 days ago(Red), 1 pretty stripped 87(Blue... possible repaint), 87 with some stuff left (black), and a really stripped undetermined year (guessing 85-86). PK got a ton of stuff, XB only got a few things, and I ended up with 3 visors and a bumperpad front underneath grill. this first pic was the 85, we picked alot of stuff off it (emblem on the front of that fascia was pulled)
and this last pic is of a Fiero that PK and I saw otw to P/U XB to go yard hoppin

I like how on one car they wrote on the door what side should be up.
some of the non-fieros had some of the typical junkyard lingo on them... "so and so sux c0x" etc...
ashame XB and me forgot to video PK on top of the first red one pulling headlight motors... of course he left them there near the gate after all that work....

lol, that one pic with me and rick at the black car does not look very P.C. LOL...
I think I did the best though today, all the stuff I got was free snagged a couple of new heater hoses for my heater core, a new overflow tank cap, new leather covered shift knob from an Olds Silohette, a shift indicator light socket, couple of lighters, new headlight switch (mine is missing the lettering) and anything else that I could stuff in my pockets
The rule for the day was if it will fit in my pockets, it comes with me lol
Also looked at an 87 belt tensioner and was going to get it, but wasn't sure if it would work on the 88 duke...if I find out it does, back I go to the yard to spend the $5 for it... Looked relatively new...
Edit: forgot to mention, that silver SE that they saw on the way to pick me up was almost mine...Guy wanted 2 grand for it though and it needs new freeze plugs all around...he blew em out and the car overheated.... He also had a red 84 2m4 that I was going to buy before this 88, but he sold it out from under me and refunded me the cash I had on it. And he had/has an 89 G/A with the LT3 (2.0 turbo) up there for 1200...wanted that for a swap, coulda had the 84 and the G/A for 1800...

The rule for the day was if it will fit in my pockets, it comes with me for free lol It was all small stuff, and the yard probably would have charged me about 20-30 for everything...mainly because of the shift knob...and I didn't have that kind of cash...Not like they are losing money or anything...
Remind not to leave you alone near my car!
Probably not a smart idea to admit to theft on a public forum.

Lets look at this in a rational, economical sense. Figure the junkyard probably paid the previous owner 75-100 for the car as scrap. Also take into account that they are going to make 5x or more money off of it in used parts, and at the current price of scrap metal, another 75-100 for steel at .60 a pound (rough estimates mind you). That puts them at least around 550-600 for a car they paid no more than 100 for. They are already ahead of the game by 450-500. My taking of $2 worth of parts that they would have charged me $30 for isn't going to put them out of business. And its not like I am taking it just for the hell of it or to sell it myself and make a profit. I actually intend on using this stuff (and already am). Also take into account the $2 fee that was paid to get into the place. So they got the $2 they deserved off of me.
Now had I gotten more items that were actually worth what they were charging, yes I would have paid the full price for them no problem.
And as for the comment about being left around your car Jimmy, my actions today do not mean that I would take parts off of someone else's running, driving car. A scrap yard is nothing more than a giant garbage dump for cars. If its been thrown away by the previous owner, its fair game. One man's trash is another man's treasure...

It's not a garbage dump, it's a business. Taking inventory without paying for it is shoplifting, which IIRC is a crime. Justify it however you want, but you took merchandise without paying for it. Not trying to start a flame war or hijack the thread, but it's a bit disturbing to me when people are able to so casually justify theft.

Um I beg to differ here. It does not matter what the junk yard paid for the car. They are a business and their business is to sell used parts. They are not in business to give parts away because "you" feel they make a big enough profit as it is. You felt the parts were worth something to you so you should have paid the junkyard for those parts. As you stated... "Ones man's junk is another man's treasure".
If someone I know dies and leaves me everything they own and I decide to have a yard sale and sell the stuff... does that give you the right to steal it from my yard sale because I got it for free? NO! You don't have the right to "steal" "anything" from "anybody".
Fact is... you took something from a "business" without paying for it. That is theft plain and simple. There is no justification for it.
And No I would never leave you alone around my car. I would'nt even let you in my home Mr. Stickey Fingers.
My appologies to everyone for ranting but I have been stolen from more than my share of times and I hate thieves.

I wonder what the Armored Truck Company you work for would think about this. Hmmmmm

LOL Come to the big city and see what goes on in the junkyard. People here are beating you up over cigarette lighters and a headlight switch; the junkyards around here are not exactly frequented by the upper crust of society and the standard operating procedure is they stuff high-dollar items like fuel injectors and ignition modules in their pockets. I saw them ask to search the pockets of one guy and lo and behold he had 8 fuel injectors in there... Maybe they saw him on camera, I don't know.

I hope you get busted one day and serve actual jail time for $25-50 in stolen junkyard parts. The junkyard paid for those parts, and those are mostly items that people would eventually have bought. If you wanted the parts, why do you think you have the right to get them for free - did you provide some great service to the owner of those cars?
It's theft - plain, simple, and STUPID. If you have any decency to you, you'll send them the parts back (anonymously if you're a coward), or fess up and say you "forgot" you'd walked out with them and pay them what they think is fair.

Yea, I'll be sure to get right on that...Right after you and your "Holier than though" attitude take a walk off a short pier... Please do not crap the thread. I am sure Andrew wouldn't be very happy. Its already been crapped enough.

Yes, me and my "holier than though"ness...(probably too stupid to realize that your comment doesn't make sense, you mean "thou")
Get a clue loser! You're the one stealing, then you want to justify it in this thread. Then you suggest I need to walk off a short pier? Why, because I'm too good to steal from others? You'll get what's coming to you one day - it's called Karma...of course, you'll be the first one to cry "why me"...

I'm done with all you hypocritical mother ****ers what want to sit here and berate me for something that you've most likely done your damn selves before! Get a ****ing life for christ sake! Its people like yourselves that make forums like this no fun for others. Did I ask for your ****ing opinions on my beliefs? No! So keep your god damned traps shut!
Pace this, you want to talk about stupidity, fine. Sure, I made a typo, is that the best insult you can come up with? Look what time it was when I posted. 0125 in the morning.
As for your remark about Karma, thats all fine and well IF YOU BELIEVE IN KARMA! Do I believe in karma? **** NO! I believe that Might is Right, survival of the fittest, Lex Talionis, only the strong survive. And I do what I must to survive.
That said, you can all go **** yourselves, I'm done.
And Cliff, I apologize for the language, but I feel its necessary, because I believe its the only way these assholes are going to get the point. You can delete my account and ban me, I don't really care anymore. If this is the bullshit I have to deal with at this forum based on an issue that DOES NOT CONCERN OTHERS, I'd rather not be a member here. I'll find myself another board.

Don’t forget, most junkyards (here in CA) make-up for possible “sticking fingers” by charging a “door fee” upon entrance @ $2-3 a head. You are charged this fee regardless of you buy anything or just browsing their lot. I’ve seen the list and it can up-to 100 people whom have signed the list. Tell me, is it fare that everyone is charged a flat rate? When was the last time you’ve walked into a store and was charged a flat fee upon entering? Those who leave with nothing may feel they’re “entitled” for a souvenir.
Therefore, due to my political career, I plead the 5th.
Edit: I forgot to mention that a junkyard in Clearwater, FL crushed a near perfect yellow 88 fastback. I'm sure the plastic roof and panel where not needed for scrap metal and I'm sure a Fiero person would have gone over and taken off the parts before they crushed the car!
I kinda agree with Xerces_Blackthorne here that some of you are overreacting. He took a few dollars worth of crap - it wasn't like he stole an ice cream from a kid or stole a Fiero from someone's garage. That doesn't make it right but geez, get a grip and keep things in perspective here - I think by now he's getting the point that you don't approve of his actions. I mean, seriously, starting new threads about this and crapping on a build thread over this? Where were you in the MSLori and F-I-E-R-O threads? Oh wait, you were there but apparently didn't think ripping fellow forum members off warrants the same flak you are giving Xerces_Blackthorne now.
