Hey everyone, I was asked in O/T a few weeks ago if I was going to do the Secret Santa thing again this year. I had a few people interested in it again. Figured with the economy being what it is, we might not get a lot of takers this year but I still wanted to give those people a chance who wanted to do it. I'm posting this early so hopefully everyone will get a gift by Christmas!!
If you don't know me, I'm Darlene I've been heading this up for the last 2 or 3 or more years, I can't remember now!
If you don't know what Secret Santa is, it's just a gift exchange from people on the board. You sign up with me and I randomly draw a name for you to buy for. Someone else gets your name too. You buy a gift for your person and mail that gift out. You watch the mail and a gift should show up. Pretty simple. We usually limit the amount of the gift to $20 - $25. If you do sign up, remember this is the internet and we don't know exactly who is behind the user name so, there might be some people that take advantage and not send one. With the help from some friendly Fiero folk and me the past few years, we got everyone something.
If you think you are interested, here's the link from last year https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/068079.html Take a look and see if you would like to play along.. You can also do a search for Secret Santa and there will be a gifts received thread and a Dear Secret Santa I want...... thread from last year too. That will give you an idea of what to expect.
If you want to play, please post here and PM me your name and address. I won't give your address out to anyone other than that person who is buying the gift for you. So, please don't worry about that. If you don't know me and don't think you can trust me, ask around. I'm sure a few people will vouch for me. lol I know it's early but I'm trying to get a jump start on this. I'll keep sign ups up for about a week, week and 1/2.
Please don't sign up if you know you won't have the time or money to do this. I don't get on here much on weekends so if you don't hear anything from me this weekend, I'll be back on Monday to check in.
Thanks guys/girls!!

First, the question: When does the gift giving start? Does it start immediately (I.E., following post and pm), or does it start closer to Christmas?
Now the suggestion: Why not make things easy (if the limit is $20-$25), and send gift cards for different businesses, or even for the Fiero Store?
I would be interested in getting into this, but I don't expect much in return...I myself would prefer a gift card or something, what with all the work I have to do with the fiero...No offense, I like the idea of this, but...without knowing someone personally, I don't think I would feel too comfortable buying something for that person only to have bought something that may not get used or be appreciated.
Can you tell I'm a firm believer in store credit/cash/gift cards?
At this point, I'm just rambling...count me in

Xerces-Blackthorne, we generally try to get the gifts out for Christmas. Although sometimes we usually have a few stragglers and it runs until the end of January. As for the gift giving ideas, usually there is a thread started about a Secret Santa wish list. Most of the Secret Santas post what they would like, so that kind of helps out a bit.

That means you get the last remaining gift. Santa always works from the end of the list back to the front.
My info has been PM'd Dar.

Damn lol...Guess this is one of those times where coming in first is worse than being a loser
If thats the case though, whoever gets my name just has to read my original post to figure out what to get for me (see fierostore gift certificate part) and I can act like I am surprised hehe

Meant to say...........As hard as it is I think we should all wait until Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to open our gifts.....................then tell the forum what we got. This is a huge thing Dar does..alot of work just keeping things straight. Thank you again Darlene We could let her know if we received our present so the stragglers are reminded to hurry, but hold off opening them

i'm in. sadly, i must be getting old. the only thing i can think of that i want is a crock pot.
am i getting so old that i think i need my meat cooked untill it mush? i still have all of my teeth, for now... am i looking forward to the times to come?
or am i just being lazy and want to throw everything in a pot and walk away for 12 hours cause i have other (funner) things to do?
whatever.
hell, i'd be happy with a wooden nickel.
EDIT: i just remembered, i plan on learning to reload 9mm ammunition soon. so anything involved with that would be fun too.

We’re all on to you buddy. “Meat” is a lame excuse. What you really want to throw into the crockpot for 12 hours is car parts. Lazy? Bah…IT’S PURE GENIUS! Based on your suggestion, I’m going to get Gordo one of his own for Christmas, which he can use for this very purpose. I have to admit that I have, at times, found myself bi*ching at him when he wastes energy by running just a few “small” items in the dishwasher. Suppose I ought to add a

You betcha I'm in again! If you need any help Dar, you know where I am!
For my SS, I don't have a Fiero but I do have 2 other project-type vehicles, a 75 Honda Goldwing GL1000 and a 89 Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep is just a winter car, never been interested in four wheeling. Automotive history is something I'm interested in. I root for the little and obscure guy over the big names.
