This is just a flight of fancy at the moment, because we re skint

. But...seeing as I can't sell my Fiero GTfor love nor decent money at the moment, I am thinking of cutting the roof off, raking the windscreen back the same as a choptop, and doing something wild and wacky to the doors!!

I can't use photoshop...mainly because I don't have a copy any more

..But I wasn't very good with it when I did have it anyway. So here is what I want to do.
Cut off the roof, and the rear window (obviously

). Rake the screen back so the top of the screen is about 3 inches lower than standard. I want to remove the doors, and cut them in half horizontally, and throw away the bottom half. Then, I want to build up the rockers, or sills as we call them, so they are half the height of the original doors. This wil be the main strengthening mod I want to do, building the rocker up with sheet steel and angle, so the rigidity will be maintained. It will also be necessary to strengthen the chassis from corner to corner, so I want to turn the car over and see what I can do. I don't like the idea of having a 'frame' underneath , that is so obviously added on. because the roofline will have been dropped by about 4 inches, I calculate that I will still be able to have windows that wind up and down, even though the door is only half as deep as before. Obviously there will have to be new, or different windows, but that happens with choptops anyway.
The new rockers will incorporate an intake from the middle of the door to the original intake, on both sides. The doors will not have the conventional door handles, but a different system to open them. The door 'B' posts will also possibly be more raked back too, to make entry easier.
Anyway, it is all in my mind at the moment, but I hope I will be able to draw up some ideas on paper. Probably won't come to anything; no more than a pipe dream..but it will be fun to plan it out!
