As some of you are aware, Forum member mmeyer86gt/gtp does leather reupholstery on Fiero shift handles and manual shift knobs for the Fiero.

He has an active thread going in the Mall.

I recently ordered a replacement manual shift knob for my 1986 SE. It originally did NOT come with Leather. When a friend of mine totaled his GT, I "borrowed" the shift knob from his car for mine.

Over a period of 3 years, the already worn leather finally gave up the ghost, separating from the knob, and finally coming apart at the seams. It was also quite "seasoned" from many years in the hot sun, with sweaty hands. Needless to say, it was not a very nice sensation to touch it after it started deteriorating.

I peeled the leather off, and have been driving the car ever since with a smooth shift knob.

Fast forward to last week when KEV, President of the Minnesota Fieros Forever club brought some "show and tell" items to the monthly club meeting.
He brought in two of the Automatic shift handles to show everyone. The leather work on these was enough to make my mind up for me.

I purchased a "black, grained texture" shift knob.

A photo of the texture on the knob.

A detail photo of the stitch work (Top notch!)

A photo of the bottom "finished" edge.

Note: The leather is glued to the shift knob and curves under the edge where it meets the shift boot. The edge is not visible when installed. The adhesive is quite strong, and will last a long time. This may very well be the last shift knob you will need.

An installed photo in my car.

All in all, I give this product a 10/10. Shipping was fast (yes, considerably faster than my shipping...), the product was well packaged, and the price was unbeatable.

The shift knobs are 25 shipped. If you pay by paypal, include an additional $2.00 to cover the paypal fees.

mmeyer86gt will continue to manufacture these shift knobs as long as he has cores. While cores do not get you a discount, shipping your old one back in order to help other Fiero owners out is one of the best ways you can help support the community and it's many vendors.
