I had just finished cutting the grass and was going to relax when my daughter said Fred called and is in town. I thought of another friend but then the phone rang. It was Fred with the Indy/PPG and I was very happy he was in town dragging his PPG behind. He was stopping at a hotel between trips and just up the road three miles. I was excited as I didn't think we would get these two cars back together for awhile. The last time they were in the same shop was about 24 years ago. Fred was traveling with his mom and we enjoyed some quality time along with one of our members having a bunch of nice photos of both of Fred's PPG cars so I know Fred was really happy when he left with the original Negatives from 1985. All in all I really enjoyed the time as I know Fred did.
Incase some didn't know this car was one of the three 1984 Inianapolis Pace cars that was transformed after the race to the PPG car and can be seen here https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/072836.html I at first argued a bit with Fred about this car not being one of th eIndy's after talking with John callies about it just before Fred bought it. But Fred new more about the car and didn't listen to me thank God. John Callies had forgotten a few things about the car and once Fred bought it and John seen it there was no doubt it was a orignal Pace car. The reason I call it a Prototype mostly is due to the SD4 engine and Johns 6 momnths to transform it into a running Pace car for the race.
Here are some photos from today at a school by the house. It was easier to unload and move since it is not allowed on the street. Rick B

I was there! Two great looking Fieros with a lot of history. Thanks guys! During the little photo shoot, people started coming to the parking lot and looking at the cars from a far. Then, Fred turned the strobe lights on and started his Fiero. People did a double take and started coming closer to the cars. It was kind of weird, how the neighbors were acting around the cars. It was like the cars were going to bite them and they did not want to get to close. But they wanted to see what was going on. Afterwords, we all went to Ricks house and spent a few hours and looked at the documents and the history of the two cars. I had a great time! Fred, it was great to finally meet you and your mom. Have fun in PA. Rick, I will see you, on Thursday and maybe, we can get the problem, that you are having, solved.

I remember buying the issue of Car and Driver, I was 15 in June '85. A couple years earlier Wendy's restaurant had a "grand prize" , new pace car parked in front of the store by my house and I walked past it every day on my way to school. I really adore them.

Actually the tag on the window puts it in the middle which technically would make it #2. I showed the thread to Bob Birchmier and it peaked his interest. He told me he also has more photo's from the Spring nationals of my car and wants to talk about Freds car.
I will go over the stuff I emailed him Paul on your car that he didn't get back to me. Not sure if he missed the email or forgot to answer back then. I have been so busy I just hadnt called him in awhile. Rick B

Yes I have a few but it was a cloudy day so there not super. There are a few others that took photos so we will have to see what came out of those also. Did you want something mailed to you in hi-res?
And thanks grkboy707 I enjoy comments like your's about my car.
Here are a few more and one close up showing the tri-color lower. Notice my car reflecting in it, now that is a shine. Rick B

Incase anyone wondered , both cars are the same height from the ground and same 16"sized wheels except mine Gold/White has 9" on the front and Freds are 8". Funny how his look larger and how his car looks lower to the ground due to the later nose and rear. All panels are the same except that and the roof scoop is longer on the tail on Freds and smaller on the top mouth part. His roof scoop is the first made by GM and mine is the second made by DGP and I mean really the first one of the large mouth 2nd style. Rick B
Thanks for the hospitality Rick. I am glad we got some photos of the two cars together, especially at short notice.
The rumor is true, the car is in Hershey PA right now for the AACA Nationals. The car will be entered in 35b Limited Production and Factory Prototype Class for Saturday's Show. Over 2000 antique vehicles will be at the show.
Time for bed, I have a lot to do over the next few days.
Fred

I wished I could have been more hospitable and had you and mom stay the night instead of a hotel. My next home will have more than enough room for that and a huge pole barn. Thanks for stopping by for the photo shoot. Rick B

The show is on Saturday the 10th. The car will be in class 35b which will be on the south side of of the show field. There will be over 2000 antique show cars there.
The show is in the grassy area west of the Giant Center in Hershey Park. Bring your $10 for parking.
