Someone offered me a restored 65 mustang for my 84 fiero. All it needs is glass. I hate mustangs with a passion but I might be able to sell it and make some money.
Yea I'm most likely gonna do it. How much is a 47000k mustang coupe with a straight 6 worth? And could I sell it for a grand? I don't care if its worth more I want to get it and sell it the same day

Don't know if Calif would allow it, but a 289 or other V8 could be swapped in without a whole heck of a lot of trouble. I had a 66 coupe w/ 289 and loved it, but everything started failing all at the same time and just as I was getting married. Fun car tho.

Pics now! Classic Mustangs are a lot harder to come by, and are worth more, than the average Fiero. If anything, just do it, and sell it. (If it's in decent, running condition)

He said it was restored, except for the glass. I'd do it for sure, and even drive it to the next Fiero club meeting. But then, I have two Fieros, so I wouldn't be without.

To be fair, I got offered $10,000 for my 69 fastback. Got a bit of damage in the back end, but it is rust free, runs and drives, was a 6 now has a 302 from a 80's truck I turned him down, didn't offer enough for it. You could get 5-6,000 if you were a little patient, about 3,000 for a really quick sale. MAYBE 7-8 or a little more from someone really wanting it, especially if it is any decent restoration. I've seen some pretty scary "frame-off" restos. Be very careful though, my uncle bought an old Mustang like that, turned out to be a Shelby Hertz rental car made himself a killing on it too... sold it for $25,000, bought it for $800. If I had the extra $1000 I'd buy it right now, finish it off and probably list it for $15,000.

I'll give ya an idea here. EXACTLY a year ago I had a 66 notchback 'stang, roller that needed everything, yet was pretty much there save for the motor or trans, yet rust FREE. Interior was a core for recovering and you can buy everything new for this car. It was straight and yes, rust frre, an original V-8, auto, white with red interior. It was stripped in in that awful red primer and pretty much dismantled. A roller with lotsa boxes. Sold it for $2650.00 and the guy couldn't get here quick enough and practically shot in his pants when he saw this gem....The bent frame apron didn't slow him down either....Just a thought...I hope your still not chewing on this and did the deal by now....A 6cyl pony should fetcha 4-6K ina day, no problem....My 2¢...Mike

Any Ford small block will bolt right in. Also most of the big blocks like 390s. Unless you just really love your Fiero, you would be crazy to not take the offer. Around here a Mustang like that goes for $7000-$10,000 no problem. Be aware though, lots of Mustang people, especially classics, want the original engine in it. You can buy a pretty nice Fiero for $8000.

PICS?????? From what you describe (that he described) I'll give you you grand for it. I like the little 6 cyl Mustangs. I don't mind the 4 bolt wheel pattern. LMK. I don't limit myself to TX for cars.
------------------ When life gives you lemons, thank them for the Fiero.

I would say that it isn't to me but a major part of the automotive world believes that it is and are willing to pay for it. So, get it, resell it and use the money on a new Fiero.
If you decide to keep it be careful, I understand that the gas tank on that year is inside the trunk, not under, in a rear end collision fuel can be spray through the back seat into the passenger compartment.

I looked at getting a 66 before I got married. It had the 289 V8, I think it was. Pretty red with white interior. Sometimes I feel like kicking myself for not getting it .

A Mustang has the following, and the acceptance from the classic car segment, that the Fiero never did. Unless the car is a total rust bucket, if you trade straight across, you can't go wrong. I've had quite a few...a 67 289 convertible, a 70 Mach 1, a 65 Factory High Performance 289/4 speed hardtop, a 70 Boss 302, and 67 and 69 Shelby GT350s, along with an 84 GT and the 99 GT I currently own. If the car is straight and solid, it should be a no-brainer, and you should be able to sell it easily. HOWEVER....knowing what you can get for a 65 Mustang, one wonders why he wouldn't just sell it outright, and buy a Fiero. Check it out thoroughly...look for bondo, rust in the trunk, wheelhouses, rockers, torque boxes, floorpans, etc.
