Looks like it might be a java scripting problem. The page will start to load (I get different backgrounds at times) and then sound bite starts to load and then drives Firefox crazy and dumps all connections.
I tried IE and after several minutes it will finish loading but it takes about 85% of my system to do so. Try removing the sound bite.

Ummm....just looked at the route. How far south will you be going on 23? Personally, I recommend going down to Oscoda and cutting back on River Road along the Au Sable River. Would probably put you in a perfect timing for dinner at Desi's in Footesite. Hmmm...would love to join you, but not sure if I will be able to pull it off.

Another bump. 9 days out according to the web site, 10 days according to my calculations. Just made hotel reservations for Saturday night in Mackinaw. Looks like I am going to have to bring the convertible....so I am hoping for some uncommonly warm and dry weather up there.
Any idea how many are going to be there?

Another bump....we are within 10 days. Weather.com says it will be sunny, mid 50s, and very little chance of rain. I'll take it...I can handle the 50s as long as it stays dry. Should make for some beautiful pics. Can't wait to meet the Michigan crew...

Another bump Made it to West Branch. 72 degrees and sunny....this has to be a new record for Northern Michigan in October. Hope this heat wave sticks around a couple days. Also looks like the perfect timing for the colors....

Had a great time....topped off by great people, great weather, and great food. The person responsible for the weather did such a great job that we are not only going to extend his contract another year, we are going to double his pay also.
On to a few pics....

I have to whine and complain about this a bit. I have been coming to this sand hill on the Au Sable River since I was too young to remember. When I was a kid, we could only get to it by boat or 4wd truck. This was a special place to me when I was growing up. Then a couple years ago the state just plowed a road, paved it, and gave it to everyone that didn't have to go out and find this place for themselves. The view is still spectacular....but I feel like it was stolen from me when I am forced to share it with everyone.
A little further down River Road:

The wife and I had a great time. This is the first time I have been to the tunnel of trees in the North Eastern Lower Penninsula. It is a beautiful drive and one that I would love to take if the road was blocked off and you were allowed to drive it at speed. That would really be fun.
I did hit a new high on gas mileage on this trip though. Following Robert and the rest of the crew I had to keep a light foot on the gas pedal and on one stretch I got 31.7 miles per gallon with my 3800 SC series III. That is by far the most I have ever gotten. Normally I run between 25 and 26 mpg and sometimes a little lower. I don't know if I could hold to that restraint for a whole trip or even for a week or so, but at least it is capable even though I might not be.
If you look at my black 88 GT you will see Sunny the bear. There is a special story about Sunny that we might share later on.
Wish I didn't have other obligations on Sunday so I had to drive straight back down I75 Sunday morning instead of staying with the group on the sunrise side of the trip. I also got to meet Greg (CowsPatoot) and his mother. They were a lot of fun and didn't freak out when they had problems.
