I enjoy car shows but how come we never get together for a drive. I would like to see if theres any interest in doing a informal road trip through some beautiful back country roads. No fees just get together and go. I have several ideas and know these roads like the back of my hand. Just throwing this out and see if any interest. It would be in the upper sussex and warren counties of New Jersey.
Pete - Depending on the weekend you pick, Meg and I would be interested in joining this. Still working out the bugs in her car, but I trust it enough for this type of thing.
Cheers, Rich

Depending on when, I'd be in for sure. The car's just going under the knife for paint and harmonic balancer replacement, so if I'm done in time, I'm good to go.

9/11 and 9/14 are good for me. Labor day weekend starts on 9/4 so its probably not a good weekend. I know Warren and Sussex pretty well too but IMO we would be better off cruising in the poconos as there is much more to do there.

I thought about the Poconos but i want to stay away from heavily used roads, The idea is to spend more time driving and exploring and not dealing with Tannersville type traffic, But we could go in the upper regions like Honesdale area. How does sept. 18th sound to everyone it's a saturday? I will come up with a driving course for Pa. and NJ.M y plan is scenery, spots to take photos of our fieros place to eat, point out some historical and natural places and something for the ladies. (Shopping?)

The 18th is OK by me. Fast drivers up front and slow pokes to the rear! Suggestions on meeting places and time?

EXCELLENT!!!!! We have a date Sept 18th. How does this sound 10 am at the parking lot behind Jimmys Hot Dogs in Phillipsburg NJ. It's next to the Free Bridge and has a large parking lot. The reason there is cause i plan on going up the river on a back road that leads to Belividere and beyond. I will pass out maps of the course with mileage and points of interests. I plan on returning to were we started around between 5 and 7 pm. does that sound alright? What about visiting an attraction? Or just cruise and take breaks every so often? I want to keep the group together so at points we will stop and let everyone catchup. There will be a lunch break and if anyone is interested possibly dinner. Hope this sounds like a fun day of Fiero cruising thats what these cars were built for. I will keep updating on this. So please give me feedback, Pete

Jimmie's Doggie Stand is at 7 Union Sq. in downtown Phillipsburg NJ. Hot Dogs sell for $1.10 ea. Will the establishment let us use their parking lot? If not Rt 22 runs through Phillipsburg and there are loads of businesses along the way...Dunkin Donuts, Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut, Walmart and the Phillipsburg Mall to name a few. So far the 18th is good. I'll have to miss the Valley Forge Gun Show on that day but its more important getting out and enjoying the outdoors, the scenery and meeting up with fine Fiero folks. If we can count 6 or more, I say lets go for it.

Sounds great to me. Perhaps you can make a rendezvous point or two during the day in case people want to join up for a portion of the day but cant do the whole thing? Another thing I'll beg you to consider is fuel stops. Some of us are not getting the factory 30+mpg.
Planned meals would be great.
Sign us up for 2 fieros for the day.
Cheers, Rich

gas stops all planned out. same with food and i love your idea about joining in. i have 4 fuel stops planned. ohh if anybody has a pair of walkie talkies to use that day it would be a great help. im guessing around 100-200 miles for the day. im going out this weekend and check mileage road conditions etc, how many miles do a v-6 get on a full tank? my iron duke gets about 230 on a full tank

I'm getting 12-14mpg or so in the 3800 car. At the 120mile mark I'm usually getting alarmingly close to the empty mark. I think I would get a bit better mileage if I babied it a bit, but... why?

What might be nice is if we all cruised through the ghost town near the Delaware Water gap. Its on the Jersey side just North on the last exit in NJ on RT 80.. See it hear and read the story of how it came to be on the link below. Remarkably the town is being preserved by the national park service as its a national historic landmark but there are NO people in this town and none for miles around. The only people to be seen are on the outskirts where there is an inn/restaurant and a few park Rangers will be encountered now and them. http://www.weirdnj.com/inde...iew&id=101&Itemid=28

I'm going to be all the way in Plattsburgh on the 18th. Stupid school. I'm completely down for a drive later in the future when I'm home (thanksgiving break and winter). I'm over on Long Island so Jersey isn't TOO far. Plus, I really want to go on a cruise with some other Fieros. I've been cruising by my self since I got it.

PS. if anyone wants to see my 84 conv. sitting in the garage you can all swing past my house.

Its been ages since I last ran into you. You don't seem to go to Carlisle anymore. A while back you were holding parts for me but we never hooked up. Perhaps its becuase my email changed. If you still have them, I'll take them and if not I completely understand. BTW do you have a Fiero wih the California Convertibele kit? I have one 80% complete that I never finsihed. Its my next project and it will have a 4.9L swap for cruising and going on long trips. As for the cruise join in. It will be like old times-LOL!

Dennis, If you could remind me what the parts were, I'll see if I still have them. I got so pissed off at some people about a year ago I sold just about everything I had to Fiero Jon. He filled that 20 foot trailer of his to the roof and started putting stuff into the back of the truck before he said he could not take anymore. As for Carlisle, that is the weekend of Karen's family reunion. That project is getting bigger every year and it takes up a large amount of time. We have family coming from 8 states and Canada now. So you can see it is something I can't miss. I did buy a LA Conversions 84 last year and it sits in the barn till I figure out what to do with it. I have been getting the urge to cut the roof off of the Formula.....
