somewhat ashamedly, I will admit that I am going to start a pic thread without posting a pic (for now)...
Just wanted to get some 'texty' things out of the way before I post my few pics later.

This is the welcome sign at the Lake Murray Lodge. I REALLY liked that place... despite its age, I found it charming and very scenic.
We were lucky to get so many rooms, they book that place full a month in advance, which is a tribute to Tom Myers getting it nailed down for us.

pic courtesy of Tom Slick

The region from Lake Murray to Turner Falls is absolutely gorgeous. The weather was some of the best we have ever had for an event. Thank you much to the Okies for pulling whatever favors from God for this weekend... Crisp nights and cool sunny days. I almost did not want to leave the state... but the water tasted so bad I felt compelled to!

The Ruckus Count by the numbers went something like this:
16 Fiero's
1 motorcycle
4 Model T's
7 pickups
25 swag bags
38 guests
50 shirts
78 degrees
-and-
1 state trooper

Many thanks to the Oklahoma Fiero Community for hosting this year, namely Tom and Pam Myers who obtained lodging, chow, and acted as treasurers. Gerald for his excellent work on the shirts with the design, and for being this years cruise captain. Doug for his assist in general show needs. The games crew of Tom Slick, Mike (TXGOOD), and Tim (BoostedSeries1). Lastly, Many MANY thanks to those that drove out as far as from Kentucky and Kansas... or flew in from Florida to attend. Those that logged many long miles from Houston and San Antone. All of those that donated to the Swag Bag game and helped in the stuffing of them. That was a resounding success!... someone needs to take a photo of exactly what all was in there and post it in the thread. Awesome contributions guys.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Ruckus is a show like no other. It ain't about the cars... it's about the people... and R9 was a solid success that carried the tradition forward. I hope those that could not make the Boomer Sooner Ruckus wiil enjoy the pics, and I hope you will be able to attend RX next October in D/FW.

there are 3 Ruckus shirts left. Size picken's is kinda slim. We have a Large and two XXX Large. They sell $15 for the first shirt and $10 for each additional (which was organizer cost). Tell ya what... if you would like a shirt... I will take some of the cool leftovers from the Swag Bags and bundle them in with the shirt(s)... PM me if interested. (There is no profit on this, prior organizers have created a shirt fund to help buy the next years Ruckus shirts, which in turn will be sold to re-plenish the fund).

(photos to come... going to bed for now!)

Okay I'll start:

Blake in his usual position around a police car

Blake trying to stop on a buffalo nickel

on one of the landings on Tucker Tower

Blake in his presidential postion looking down on us from the top of Tucker Tower

It's tough to get a clear view of Tucker Tower

Cruising to Turner Falls

A castle built in the 1930s above the path to Turner Falls

Turner Falls at the only angle I could get that wasn't washed out by the sunlight above and behind it

A cave to the rightof the falls with a person standing near the entrance

I believe this was Tim waving from the rocks above the falls.

Mark is somewhere near the center of this pic, To the right and above the falls

Now for the Fieros: With this mornings dew on them

The swag bag contents ( including the little square package above the yellow micro fiber towel)

I must say that this was one of the most enjoyable Fiero events that we have ever attended. I will add my thanks to the the organizers that Blake mentioned above and to Blake also for his efforts in bring this off. The location was supurb, facilities pleasant, weather was great, and organization of the event was very well done. Met many new friends , put faces with names/handles, and learned a lot. Thanks so much.

Dave and Cindi

edit: And Tom Myers if you read this.... you were right on the money. Found the threads stripped out of the block for one of the bolts on the # 1 main bearing on the duke. Trying to figure out if there's any way to fix it.

We're home again, and tho I'm glad to be here, it was a wonderful Return to the Red River. Gorgeous scenery and the weather was the best I remember for any Ruckus. Jane and I really had a great time, and as I told Tom, I think it rated right up there at the top of all the events we've been to so far. Very well put together, planned, and executed. We really hated to leave today.

In Tucker's Tower, did anyone else see this metorite? (it was quite large)

quote
Lake Murray meteorite - largest of its kind and the fifth largest ever found in the world and was cut in half. 90 million years old. Located in Tucker Tower.

We took about 100 pics, but I'm beat down tonight so will just post these.

This, I took from far above Turner Falls out of a hole in in the wall of a small cave I had to get down and crawl into on my belly. It opened up once inside, and had a "window" I could look down from, and I was kinda surprised, when I realized where I was and how high Jane & I had climbed. This is the pool, just before the water falls over the edge of the upper falls, center top. There is a little sandbar down there and people were in the water. I found out a little later, that they hadn't climbed up, as we did, but had driven around to the top via a different road, parked in a paved lot, and just waded downstream till they came to the falls.

Same place, the overspill for the highest falls is off to these people's left.

Who owns the White t-top Formula? I've always had a soft spot for White 88 Coupes as that was my first Fiero.

That would be Tom Slick... he and I traded cars for a bit this weekend to see if my arthritic joints would let me shift a 5spd.

They did.

Joe, you are right about the pic of the animal that represents Stephen... and it ain't cuz he's a Democrat...

Here's a few pics that I took... I tried just to post the most interesting ones...

This was the first critter that greeted us at the Arbuckle Wilderness, an Alpaca (sp?) I think... For those interested in going... I would HIGHLY recommend paying for the animal feed... it just makes the whole experience more fun. Also... if you are in a lowered car, no problem... the roads were pretty decent through most of the park. It was very picturesque... and a lot of fun.

We thought the Cape Buffalo was going to charge TXGOOD's truck... well he did charge TXGOOD's truck...
turned out he was just hungry... or liked Tom Slick... A Lot...

Here's a critter that is horny for Mike (TXGOOD)

and me too!... Oddly, the hunter in me wanted to know what each of these animals tasted like...

But the most fun I had was with the Giraffes! Look at this beautiful girl. Those deep, longing, mysterious eyes... shielded with flirtatiously long lashes...
C'mere girl... let me give those shapely lips a little alfalfa...

Turns out my girlfriend was actually Gene Simmons, and I have gone to counseling for trauma...

My hand still feels the violation of that mouth serpent that groped me that fateful day...

thanks for posting your Oklahoma unique Ruckus award Doug...
I did not get any pictures of them when I was making them.

I hope it catches many dreams for your Fiero.

BTW, Tom Slick helped me locate things we could put on the catcher(s)... so blame him too

RUCKUS RODEO GAMES WINNERS:

Stop on the Buffalo Nickel--- Doug... stopped exactly on the dang nickel!
Closest to the Cone--- actually, I won the game with a 4" stop, but gave the award to runner up, Tom Slick with 4.25" distance.
LugNut Toss--- DIY-Stu... sunk 3 nuts and had 1 graze.

Hope you boys enjoy the custom car related trophies. If nothing else... it should make an interesting conversation starter.

Here's some more pics...

Some people will never learn... BTW, based on that 45 second scramble, I declare that there are no chiggers or poison ivy in Oklahoma.

From the top, Looking down to some of NTFC enjoying Tucker Tower while on the cruise... pictured from L to R are:
Jim & Debbie (fierosmith), Poe (mstangBware), Tim (boostedseries1), Nathan & Nicki (white88GT), Mike (TXGOOD), and Dave (2farnorth).

Don & Jane York enjoying the beautiful scenery around Lake Murray:

It would appear that my feet caused a fish kill off at Turner Falls...
yes... as I was soaking my feet in that deliciously cold spring water... a baby catfish floated to the surface.

A lot of people chose climb all over the park ground. Young Desiree even went swimming. My arthritis was kinda active that day, so I just soaked...and it was magnificent watching all my friends take in that beauty in their own way. Somehow... Tom Myers scaled half a cliff to explore a cave. Definately showed up the man 20 years younger. The organizers allowed a couple hours at the location... and at first we thought that might be too much or boring... but if anything, I got the vibe that most people wanted to spend more time exploring. We done good... just gives people an incentive to come back.

Nobody wants to see anymore pictures about me... how about me chasing Tom & Pam on the cruise?
A couple of actions shots for your enjoyment...

That about taps me... I'd really like to see more event photos from other attendees!

Ok I got a call today telling me to post my pictures or my teddy bear gets it... So for the safety of Sammy I better do it.

Me being el cheapo me I decided instead of a motel / hotel/ lodge room I wanted to camp in the tent. Glad I did, it's the second time for me to use this tent and my 5 yr olds first time camping. That and the Lodge's rooms were the size of a walk in closet and the bathrooms looked like you could do all three S's at the same time. My tent is 11Foot by 20 Feet, so there's plenty of room. Heck it's called "Camping Lodge"
Ok I didn't break out the camera until after Breakfast, which didn't go well. My daughter didn't want to eat at the Lodge. So I had to stand my ground and when she wanted to grab Bacon after time was up I had to say NO. Broke my heart. She's shy around new people, but she needed to learn the rules of an event trip.

Hey I'm not that mean though. she did get Pop Tarts unexpectedly when I left a small bit later to go get a DEW.

My view of Blake trying to scare off the PoPo Award.

During most of the Cruise I got stuck behind a car that was either equipped with a smoke screen device or just smoked every time he let off the gas.

Oh crap they were following me too!

A Nice view of the lake from the top of the tower.

Then some UGLY MUG got in the way of the next shot. Just look around him.

The area where I was camped. The play area is to the right some and the lodge is further to the right of this view.

Some people were afraid of the stingers up there, but they were very photogenic. See this one wanted his good side shown. Camera was approximately 2 inches away.

The curves are like rocking a baby.

Turner falls here we come. This water was cold!

K walking in the water towards the falls. Her new friend from San Antonio slipped and fell in the water. I would post pics but I haven't asked permission yet. Anyone have the San Antonio Prez's e-mail?

Took this while talking to Blake.

Then this one.

Then this.

Blake said I was next to him one moment then the next I was up in the cave.

K wanted to go to the slide/ natural pool with her new friend. So we went.

Then found a slide

Luckily they had a restroom changing room near by with one of those hot air hand dryers. Comes in handy drying off and warming up one cold 5 yr old.

That's all for that day. Now Sunday.

Blake turned right we went left :-P

Hey there he is.

Most stopped at winstar on the way back, Stephen, Tom and I kept on going.

K and I loved the trip. We also loved camping. YES even the 40⁰F mornings. Now I just hope were ever we go for events have camp sites. I'm even thinking about getting a pakboats canoe now for us.

There. To the dangerous person who called me.... Is that enough? I took over 200 shots but those were the best ones I had. Please don't hurt Sammy.

HITEC the radio is a Magnum S-680 running barefoot.
The comp 10k is borrowed but it works great for a "Yep it's still back there" indicator.

Hulki.... Shutup!
Because of THAT THING I went on a Fiero & Camping trip with my Daughter. While all others went on a Fiero trip only. I think I got the most out of it.
Because of "that thing" I was able to Take the trip to MN, have a place to sleep other than my car, John and I think up Camping in Frazee which later became Camp Shipman, Meet YOU, Make friends with everyone, Have a great time, and ummmm I think I sent something FREE for a friend.... Not sure on that one. So what do you think about "That Thing" now?

Blake... Nope no pics of the tent. But I do have one from MN that I took if you want to see what it look like and a comparison for it's size.

One thing if it wasn't for Desi I wouldn't have had near as much fun. K just was not in the mood to come out of her shell around all of these Strange people until she met Desi. Then she came out of her shell.

Looking into the DARK room.

K and Desi being adventurous.

Desi Pose #1

All back down from Castle #1

Oh NO! They spotted more stairs.

Desi found a new friend. She told him something about the last time she was in Prison. Then I took this shot. I wonder what it was.

At the top of one of the Castles. And believe me it was a LOOOONNNGGG Way up! Desi Pose #2

HAHAHAHA DESI FELL!!!!

Desi found K's slide.

All in all Thank you for making the LONG trip from San Antonio. By the time we returned from packing the tent up you guys had already departed. See you next time!
