well... I saved a lot of money by buying the components and doing the install myself... but I worked 9 hours on sat. and 8 on sunday doing it.
anyway... here's what I did... installed new Kenwood 4" x 10" 160 watt - 2 way (mids/high) in the dash - one each side. installed new kenwood 4" x 6" 100 watt - 2 way (mid/high) in the back side panels.
made a carpeted wood sub woofer cabinet from scratch - fits in tight in the passenger side floor under the dash. I didn't want to take up all the leg room, so I used a shallow mount fosgate P3SD410 - 300 watt 10" sub.
needed more high end so on sunday made 2 small/slim carpeted boxes for two 4" x 10" 350 watt - 2 ways (mid/high) - these I installed behind the seat headrests- attached to the rear panel with carpet covered angle irons ( all boxes look really good.... and sound even better.)
replaced the stock am/fm reciever with a Pioneer DEH-6300Ub CD/ AM/FMx3/MP3/IPOD/Pandora Reciever/equalizer beside all the bells and whistles and greatly improved sound... It looks so dang good... It cycles through 30+ preset colors and can be programmed with custom colors for the displays.
added some power with a 700 watt amp - which in this small car - is way more than my ears can take....
10 gauge monster cable used for all speaker connects - all cabling done under the panels and carpet... nothing showing.
it was a butt-load of work, but it rocks and looks good! which is very important - since I've owned a DJ business for 24 years now.
and by doing it myself, I saved about a grand.
Ruffy - I paid $8000.00 for the car, and another 1000.00 to have it shipped to Texas (from Mass.) since then, I had about 1500.00 in work done to it - new brakes/calipers, some new flex joints put into the exhaust, plus tax/titling/licensing/inspections... then there's the new sound...
I've had my old 1986 Fiero in the shop getting a 3800 SC installed - still not close to finished - when I came acoss this one. I'm cutting my loses on the old one....which I've had since 1988....not sure what's going to become of it... if anyone is nearby and interested, let me know - I'll be selling it pretty cheap....since I'm out of parking spaces.

Very cool! I've got those Kenwood 4x10s up front and some Alpine 4x6s in the C-pillars running off an Alpine deck. Now I'm just trying to save up for a subwoofer/amp setup.
Got any pics of those behind the headrest speakers or the head unit? And the sub box?

They look like the ones I bought off Ebay, other than the color. If they are the same, I hope you have a small arse! They're very narrow across the hips. Not sure I want them in a daily driver.

well... my butt is 60 lbs skinnier than it was 3 months ago.... but.... I'm never going to be called "Hey skinny ass" so.... this is probably not good news for me.... it's definitely not a daily driver though... more like a friday night special. so hopefully I can suck in the pucker and squeeze my cheeks tight enough for limited time in these seats....
but I think I will sit down in them - BEFORE installing them. thanks for the warning.

So as requested... pics of the speakes I built for the Fiero's sound system... these are in additon to the ones in the dash and the one mounted in the side walls behind the seats.
coaxial speaker boxes (350 watts each) from outside and from inside...
Are those the same as what Kevin D. had in his black GT? he had a neat little trick to putting them in...ask him.
ooooooooo.... my seats were delivered a little while ago... they look great and my butt isn't to big for them - actually they ae very comfortable... guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend. the orange color is a little lighter than I expected (and not the same as what was pictured which would have been a closer match)... but I stuffed them in on top of my current seats just to look at them, and I think they're going to really look good in there.
so, what was kevin d's trick to putting them in?
