The weight of power accessories, stereo equipment, optional add-ons, etc can add up pretty fast. Plus, the 4T60 transmission is kinda heavy.
That said, 2800 lb for a Fiero with a V8 isn't bad at all.
Yea I agree. It's the 4T60e that kills it, that thing weights 200lbs wet. If I had a manual would lose 100lbs. And the 4.9 is an aluminum block/Iron head engine, so it weighs about the same as a 2.8.

You would be surprised at what some of the common swaps actually weigh.
My stock 88 base coupe (no power options, but with functioning AC, rear sway bar, and a rear spoiler) and a 4.3/4T60 swap was 2840 lbs. The 4.3 had a cast iron block, heads and exhaust manifolds. My 88 GT clone (GT interior and exterior, PW, PM, AC, Corvette seats, 12" rotors front/rear, trailer hitch, 245/45/16 tires on all 4 corners) and a SBC/Getrag combo (cast iron block, heads and cast stainless manifolds, 28 lb flywheel) was 2960. Or 120 lbs heavier with full GT panels, brake upgrade, hitch (30 lbs) and heavier tires... I am pretty sure the 4.3/4T60 combo was heavier than the SBC/Getrag combo.
Both cars were weighed on the same scale, same day and both tanks were filled right before weighing.
We will see if I can hit it, but I am trying to drop the 2960 to as far below 2850 as possible with my LS4/F40 swap. I would be really happy at 2800 lbs or less.

I don't feel so bad about having a caged '86 GT race car that weighs 2505 then... considering the weight of all that thick steel pipe, I feel like I've done well.

I don't compete in any sanctioned races that require a cage but I will install a 4-point rollbar made out of Chromoly, also the subframe will be made of Chromoly. But first I' have to get a custom rear deck lid and a tranny with 4.10 gears, I'm already committed on these deals. I'm working on a tread on weight shaving by stages.

I thought you guys would find this interesting, I put my Fiero on a scale today
If you don't know of my Fiero, here it is. 86 SE, 4.9/4T60e, 88 cradle swap, A/C mostly deleted.
My weight with 3/4 tank of gas and without anyone in it was 2820 lbs. I'm a bit disappointed, I thought it would be lighter. Oh well.
Not bad at all. IIRC not that much over stock weight. The 4.9L V8 has an aluminum block and weighs in at around 350 lbs. Thats light for a V8 and approximately what a 2.8L weighs. The 4T60e is approximately 200 lbs and that adds about 60 lbs over the TH125H so the car should weigh in at +60 lbs over the stock auto Fieros weight.

"THE COLUSSUS" 87GT - ALL OUT 3.4L Turbocharged engine, Garrett Hybrid Turbo, MSD ign., modified TH125H " ON THE LOOSE WITHOUT THE JUICE "
When I weighed my '88 GT w/ 4.9 and 4T60E, 3/4 tank of gas it was 1240 front and 1660 rear for a total of 2900. Hopefully when I finally get around to stuffing the engine back in I can drop that to under 2800, already pulled the A/C stuff.
Been 6 years, but IIRC my stock '85 GT was around 1200 front and 1500 rear.

I really thought they weighed more. I read somewhere (around) 1200 front and 1900 rear (high side)
So is the 3800SC heavier than the 4.6? I've got that with AC delete and the 5 speed, aliminum flywheel. Can I be hopeful ans assume the total weight is less than 3000lbs?
