Hi guys, first of all. I would like to introduce myself, I'm Nick. I'm a proud owner of this great Fiero Mera. It's in very clean condition with all the original parts together; down to the rims and paint. The car mileage is 39k because I don't drive it as much anymore. Looking to sell it to make space in my garage. If you know anyone interested, feel free to give me a call at (626) 863-2719
Mine is excactly the same as yours is...88 auto with 68k miles...but mine is red with beechwood interior. I paid the same amount you were thinking about...10 grand.

Based on the wheels and how they appear to fit, it should be an 88.

good call Nelson, i also seen this lack of plastic thingy over the hole.....in the lower right.
the price is a fair start, but the market is still not on the up swing for any cars. good luck tho. a local buyer may be the ticket. advertize it locally for $12,500 in the window or what have you and go from there.
Cali. is the place for a higher sell price anyway.....best of luck

Definitely an 88 which makes it worth more because of the suspension redesign and better brakes. Are you the original owner? What mods have you done that we can't see? I agree, start at $12,500 and consider offers. It it was a 5-speed I would even ask more.... I believe the Paul Vargyas Fiero Price Guide prices it at $13,175 as equipped.

My opinion: If you are going to sell it please let us here know first. I have a close friend that is interested in one in good condition. He knows mine and teh condition it is in and what I paid for it. I would be more than happy to pass the info along to him on Monday at work.

thats fantastic. i wouldn't mind delivering the car there myself if the price is right.
ebay is a 50/50.....either you get a tire kicker or you dont get what you feel is a fair price....if you want to sell fast then ebay is the way, but set a reserve for what you want $$ wise. i feel if you got the time sell locally. drive it around with the sale sign in the window, car shows are always good, diners, drive-ins, the beach so you can keep an eye on it.....any place there are lots of people, there are potential buyers.
this is a good catch.....set a reserve high enough to say in the add "Free Shipping to any where in the lower 48" but first get a quote for the furthest point possible to get a reference point on how much to include in the "reserve"
I would bite on that as an incentive if i "did" 1988 Mera, i am a 1987 Mera fan.....sorry

thanks everyone for voicing some great opinions. But i honestly want to get rid of it fast, but i want a safe and sure transactions. Price is definitely negotiable if someone is interested
whats the minimum you guys think i should sell it for?
i got mine also from Ebay......and i would say least amount should be more than $8840. thats how much i got Mera X for not knowing if it was a Mera or not. in hindsight, it should have been, $10,000 to $12,000
the kit cars are selling $4000-$6000 or not selling at all..... as with the Mera, but they are adv $10,000, now or not selling even with a Mera serial # sticker. thats the clincher for a higher sale price, that darn sticker!! i do not have one but, the concesus is i HAVE a early Mera, tho working on claiming #7002 status till it turns up somewhere else......good luck on your eventual sale.

thanks daniel, so the VIN number actually enhance the price?
Here's my take on ebay reserves. If you set a high reserve, your chances of selling are reduced greatly. Why? Let say for instance your reserve is set at 18K. Bidding can hit 14K and stop because the reserve hasn't been met yet. The same instance were bidding has hit 14K and already cleared your reserve, chances are good that the bidding will continue to a higher amount because SOMEONE is guaranteed to take it home. It's that bidding frenzy that can drive prices up. Heck there were several instances that I was the high bidder on the same car several times but the bidding never hit the reserve....... so I didn't get the car. I finally got fed up bidding on a car that was never sold. I watched that happen several more times and contacted the seller, I gave him a hard ball offer and wouldn't budge. It old him that the car wasn't gong to hit his reserve as it was too high. I proved that by winning the highest bid several times and still didn't hit his reserve. That is pretty much an indication of what the market value is and he should take my offer or he's going to sit on the car until the end of time. I ended up getting the car for a mutually agreeable price. It wasn't what he ultimately wanted, but the market dictated what the value actually was.
The bottom line is that there is no sure thing other than if you set a low reserve, you'll sell the car. You'll have to live with what the bidding goes to. If you are saying that you need a minimum of 18K or you're not going to sell, be prepared to hang on to that car until the right set of circumstances cause the bidding to go up there. You'll have to be willing to stick to your guns and sit on the car for years if that's what it takes.
Personally, I like that white Mera. But...... I don't like it for 18K. that's strictly my own opinion and has no bearing on what you should sell it for, only you know the number that you're willing to take to part with it.
i looked into buying the original prototype a few months back and passed on it at $16000.00, it is likely the most valuable mera out there in my opinion. so your 18 reserve might be a little strong for this economic climate. just my opinion though.
