Me racing a 911 996 twin turbo Porsche. He put down 565awhp on a mustang dyno. The race was supposed to be 40-140. (This was his race. If he beat me I wanted to go from 60-140 so I didn't have that quick 2-3 shift.) He let off after I passed him at around 110. 4th gear is my sweet spot and where my car really gets moving.

DH has a video of me vs a 560awhp wrxSTI if I can get him to upload it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

40-145

This STI put down 560awhp on a dyno the morning before. He pulled on me at first but I reeled him once I got in 4th. I hit valve float or fuel cut or something at about 145 right when we were even. He stayed in it the whole time. I'm glade he's cool like that cause some people will let off and never let me catch up.

Its quite a bit lighter than the 996 TT.

Headlights were on, I can see fine with them. They may look dim partly to the gopro and I think the Porsche had his brights on.

Think a mostly stock getrag can run 10's???

I'm not sure what was done to the 996 but 565 wheel horsepower is a big leap over stock. He seems to act like money wasn't as issue and he has owned several exotics. I would guess upgraded turbos at the very least.

450hp is slow. That car is pretty heavy and the AWD eats up a lot of that. A moderately modded 3800sc fiero would probably beat a stock 996.

Nice run. Was that the Porsche who posted on xceed?

Let me know when you are heading to the track. I plan on going sometime in Sept myself to possibly get a 10 second slip. Looking at some logs of my new turbo, I should be able to add a few mph to my speed.

I think we are getting a group together near the end of September with the gtr and some other 800whp cars. I'll let you know. There was talk of a track rental so we all don't get booted. I doubt that though. Might just have to write noet on the windsheild.

...yes, frank

As much as I love your setup Justin, I really think 10's is pushing a stock getrag too far, and I thought 11's was pushing it too far but I guess not.

Do you think with all that shifting you have to do with the 5 speed, that a swap to an auto with

no other changes would put you easily in the 10's??? I would guess you are losing at least 8 tens to a full

second with all that shifting. Bad ass I like it, Ray

It would easily be deep into the 10's with an auto. Shifting sucks.

It's not anything to do with the number of speeds, since the extra gear is usually just a useless highway cruise gear...

A newer tranny with synchros that don't suck will reduce shifting time though, so you can put down more average power to the wheels during the race.
