Settled

I hate to air this in public but I believe I have been patient enough. I have waited almost one full year to be paid the $350 I am owed by Steve with many failed promises of payment along the way and many reasons and/or excuses. He no longer answers any PMs. The Indy I sold him has been sold on, at a profit mind you, and the new owner and I have been talking. No animosity over the fact that you turned a profit on the car. We all sell cars and hope to turn a tiny profit. That point being only that you could have paid me the balance you owe me. You still owe me $350 and I would like to be paid. I came through on the car for you and all I ask is to be treated fairly and with integrity. If anyone speaks to Steve please let him know he has a debt that he needs to settle.

Wow. WTF is with all of these people getting stiffed lately? Make good on your parts and/or money owed people. Crooks like Lloyde Rascoe and Ms. Lori and others. It's great to see so many crooks in the Fiero community. What a bunch of crap.

I do everything I can face to face with cash in hand. I'd like to think it wasn't necessary, but there are too many threads like this one. Nobody ever complains about cash.

Figured I'd jump in here real quick and say that he (fierocarparts) stiffed me too on some parts I bought from him. They weren't as described and there were more issues with the transaction as well. I've no time to explain right now, but I won't ever deal with him again.

This is one of the things that is slowly turning me away from the Fiero Community for sure. I have gotten ripped off more times than not.

I left the AMC community for this reason alone after being ripped off for the umpteenth time..... I literally sold 15 years of AMC Everything..

I know everyone isnt like this But once you loose some big money you start to become bitter and have a hard time trusting anyone.

OK, I just want to clarify. You're not talking about TIM (username fieroparts.com), but someone else right?

**EDIT** Tim, if you read this, I want everyone to be sure it's not you since your usernames are similar. Tim (fieroparts.com) is from Maine, Steve (fierocarparts) is from Texas. Just to clear up any confusion.

Yeah this is like the fifth "seller/buyer/shop burned me" thread in like the past week. I'm getting nervous with all the issues that are popping up.

I guess the bad economy is getting to people. It's bring out the scammers and causing good people to fall behind.

The Fiero community on the whole is not like that. Most are upstanding people with hearts larger than their cars! Yes, I am speaking of Steve (Fierocarparts) in Texas. I hate airing dirty laundry in public but since he won't (or can't) answer PMs and I have waited more than long enough I figured it was time to publically say it.

Steve, if you read this, it is time to square your debt up.

This doesn't have anything to do with Fieros really, but more part of the human condition when people fall on hard times. Doesn't make it right, but at least you should know it's not something to do with Fieros specifically. I've owned dozens of different model cars, and I find this in nearly every hobby.

Man, this thing just torques my jaws. I am from Texas and live in Florida . . . . . oh the irony. I have noticed that the common theme among these threads is that the "vendor" was paid up front in full. I wonder if this particular "Steve" has a valid business license in Texas? Also, since he is shipping across state lines and taking money same he falls under federal wire fraud laws. Have you tried contacting the Postmaster General? This is often much more effective than any sort of local law enforcement or the FBI for that matter.

I agree but I will say on a personal level I have had a terrible experiance with the AMC side and now its showing its head in the Fiero group.

I have had Good experiances here and there like with Russ88gt, Mike Gonzalas <spelling , Fierox and a couple of others.

But then theres the other handful of guys that really heated me up. One was close to having me take a 6hr trip to just greet him along with his local Sheriff when he left for work on a Monday...

These where all guys that posted something for sale or replied to want ads here or on other forums.

I know it isn't everyone..... but I am being tested.

I also hang around the AMC crowd, as me and a buddy are restoring an AMX. Also did the Nissan crowd with a 300ZX. There are good and bad everywhere, but the Fiero bunch are a cut above. You just need to be careful.

I understand and can sympathise that the economy plays a part. However, that would be an excuse and it doesn'y fly. If the economy drives the situation the remedy is simple: Don't buy what you can't afford! The fact is he bought the car and aggreed a price. He picked up the car and gave his word on payment. He has since sold the car. At any point in this he could have paid me. Instead, he handled his other commitments and neglected the one to me. Could it be argued that others were more important? Most likely. But the fact remains, he made a purchase, he hasn't paid for, he sold it and stil hasn't paid for it. To use the economy is an excuse and a poor one at that.

No, certainly not an excuse. Simply saying that a hurting economy often brings out people's true personalities.

Yeah, I can't imagine why if he was going to sell the car, why he wouldn't simply just hand over the balance of the money he owed you right then and there. I'd think you'd probably need to take him to small claims court. If he's smart, the last thing he wants on his permenant life-record is a judgement on something like this.

Even if you can't afford to pay someone the full amount you owe, them, at least send them what you can. I would have a lot of respect for someone that tells me "hey, I'm short of cash right now....here's $20....I'll get you the rest when I can". And if they sent me that $20 for the next 17 months, I'd write off the last 10. Things are tough right now, but a little good will goes a long way.

John, you're a stand up guy and a straight shooter. I hope Steve settles up with you.

i know this is different, but another thing iv noticed on the forum, is people posting stuff up for sale, and when you pm them to buy it, they just disappear.. I was going to buy some rims i really wanted off a forum member, and corresponded with him for over a month to set up the deal, first he kept saying he had problems with his paypal account, so we waited for 2 or 3 weeks for that to get cleared up, which it didn't, so we decided to just do a money order. Then when that was settled he kept telling me they where in his shop, and he just had to take the time to go get them, so i waited and waited for weeks, had my new tires ready, had his money order ready, was just waiting for him to give me the word to send him the money, and then he just vanished, i haven't seen him on here since, PMed him tons of times over the months of waiting to hear from him, never did.. i went through the trouble of getting a money order for him and everything (which i had to return) wasted all that time working with him, and took the time to get new tires for the wheels (which i also had to return) ... Really pissed me off. I wont say who it was, because the person is well liked around here, and is probably a good guy, but he ended up causing a lot of headache for me.. Really crappy thing to do to someone, especially after all the trouble i went to buy the wheels, tires and get the money order ready only to just get blown off..

I know its not the same thing, cause the money i did spend i got back by returning everything, but it was still a crappy thing to do too a fellow forum member..

There is a thread created for this in the Mall. I had to look for it because no one has posted in that thread for a while:

It was not, and is not, my intent to influence anyones buying decisions by starting this thread. Others need to know...yes...but the decision should be theirs. My intent was to get Steve to come clean and send me the money he owes me. That way when it comes time for me to buy more fiero stuff i have the funds and teh circle of Pontiac life can continue! I am sure Steve has a reason and hope he is not a mean or evil person with a malicious intent in this whole ordeal. Sometimes we get caught up in life and things happen. I can understand that and forgive if the person comes clean and meets their responsibilities. We all make mistakes. What makes some of us different is we live up to them.

Wow, I didn't see this one coming. I have had some pretty large transactions with Steve and have had no issues with his service or communication. Not only parts but an entire engine and more from him. Has anyone heard from him recently? Not saying it isn't possible but I just didn't catch that side of him in the least. I hope you two are able to work things out.

Every day I jump on and hope that Steve has enough integrity to come on the forum, admit he made a mistake, and own up to his responsabilities. So far, nothing.

Not even a response? Does he even care what this is probably going to do to his reputation? If I was in his shoes, I could understand keeping his head low and hoping it blows over, but this is a small forum, people won't forget that easily, especially when bumping a subject back into view is as easy as clicking on a button.

No response on the thread or via PM. I will give him credit for one attempt to pay a little. When Brian needed a few parts he offered to send them all to me for 200 of the 350 balance. I bought the parts for a little under 50 total so I didn't take him up on that offer. It was an attempt at least.

Has anyone considered that something happened to Steve?

Whenever someone just disappears like that I figure (from experience) that they are either in jail or in the hospital.

I'm a former outlaw biker and had a few friends disappear into prison and I spent 9 months in the hospital myself, after getting center punched by a cage driver. The first couple month I was in a coma in ICU and was completely gone. People who did not have daily contact with me had no idea where I went. All business transactions suddenly stopped. Many of the bike parts I had ordered and paid for sat around in the shop for a while. But, I completely forgot about them while trying to stay alive and then learning to walk again. By the time I remembered about them the shop had closed.

Oh well, life goes on (hopefully) and I learn new lessons.

By the way, I still have two motorcycles, but seldom ride them anymore. I like the Fiero more now. Go figure.

I sure have consider the possibilities. And while it is possible that for almost two years someone has been kept from their responsibilities, it is remote. The fact that he had time to sell the car, for a profit mind you, but did not have the extra 5 minutes it takes to put a check in the mail...well, I find that possibility astronomically impropable. Is Steve a good person? I imagine. I am not bashing him, calling him out as a fake, or anything like that. I would just like to get paid the monies that I am owed. I don't honestly think that is too much to ask. I don't need to know why he took the time he took or any other details of his situation. That is none of my business. I do hope nothing has beget him though. He did seem a likeable guy.

Still not a peep out of Steve...still not a dime in my mailbox...still no attempt to repay me at all.
