The folks of CFF (Central Florida Fieros) and the folks from Space Coast Fieros are finalizing the agenda. They hope to present a truly outstanding experience at Daytona next year.
Saturday they gathered to start finalizing ideas. The cars started lining up early:
We planned to cruise to historic downtown Sanford, FL to enjoy some good German food and beer, but discussions were under way before we started:
The planning folks are getting excited about the upcoming event.
We ordered our food:
Here's Dirty Harry with a selection of beers:
and here's BlackGTFiero's daughter posing with desert! (Actually it was dad's desert, he just didn't want to admit it on film!)
I think her expression says it all for desert after a full German meal and beer!
Properly motivated, the group got down to finalizing details. Watch here on Pennocks as the event comes together.
Clem, if you're out there, start the count down clock for Daytona 2012. You won't want to miss it.

The Daytona planning committee met today and quite a bit was accomplished. NOW is the time to start planning some vacation time around this March 30 - April 1 event. Our goal is to exceed 100 Fiero's again, like it used to be not very many years ago.

The correct URL should be http://floridafieros.org/daytona2012/judging.htm but bear in mind the planning committee is still working on the breakdown of classes, so what you see here is NOT a complete list of categories.

So is this event a car show, track day or some sort of combination? Thanks.
Daytona isn't allowing the amature drivers on the track because of insurance regulations for any perfomance events. There may be some infield events close to where we park.

So they are letting Pro drivers on track? What proof do they require?

There is no driving event at the Spring show. Bring all the proof you have.. There will be no driving event during the Spring show. If you get on it while on the track, you will be escorted out of the track.

The Daytona show is 100% show, there is no driving.
Most years you cannot even have your car photographed on the track. Although that varies, sometimes they do. I ordered a picture of my car on the track and never got it, must have gotten lost in the mail.
Has this show changed in that now they are excluding 1979 and newer cars unless they are extensively modified? They give Fieros and automatic pass but it sounds like other makes and models have to be modified. In years past there were lots of brand new bone stock mustangs and challengers etc. I guess they are going for more of an old school look and feel now?

I heard through the grapevine that each car entered will be entitled to a single lap for the sake of a photo opp, not to exceed 40 MPH.
Fiero's are EXEMPT from the 79 and newer cars. We are a show within a show, so ignore that statement on the registration form. Just push it through and everything will be fine.
