not the best example, but you can kinda see it. The 1990 Fiero (learned this while watching assembly video) had a double decklid which allowed you to open just the engine compartment or Just the Trunk, unless there was a spoiler (in which case they would hit and the engine would have to be open then the trunk) anyway. Has anyone tried to do something similar? A Engine lid and a trunk Lid? A button that pops both or a button that just pops the engine lid for shows?

I was just recently thinking that I might modify an extra deck lid by cutting the trunk area out. That way I could carry big items. The need to carry welding gas tanks was how it got started but it would work for skis, a surfboard, lumber, ect.

Even cooler would be a removable color-matched hard cover that could be stored in the trunk or up front like the sunroof. I'm seeing two "fork" extensions on one end of the trunk cover and a T-handle on the other end that would turn and lock the cover in place.

That idea lead to me to the idea of a Fiero with the trunk and rear bumper cut out and a golf cart "kit" put on.

Seems like it would make it hard to work on. I usually end up standing in my trunk a lot to work on the engine.

If that was true, GM would DEFINITELY have put it into production on all models .... maybe even done a recall....

Just put in a quick release hinge to attach the trunk lid. I had this idea years ago.
