Help me decide on my next project... Which would YOU build, an AERO NOTCH or a LATE COUPE? ...And why?
The idea is:
Lightly modified body (IMSA vents, T/A vents, Vented hood, maybe custom lighting) Dual-purpose suspension (daily w/some light track use) ('88 cradle, regardless of chassis year) Dual-purpose Big brake kit V8 Archie LS3/6sp swap Nice but not too "blingy" wheels Completely restored/updated interior
This will be a near-DAILY driven GT car which will be driven to events, never trailered. The plan is to put lots and lots of loving miles on her once finished. I'll post a Photoshopped version of the above pic in a later post, to give a better idea of finished product.
Thanks! ------------------ ~Michael '85 GT 4sp white - SOLD | | '85 2M6 Auto red - SOLD | | '84 2M4 bare chassis - SOLD Crap, I'm out of Fieros! Time to buy another!! - "Your mileage may vary."
...Might be time to get back into the game...

I miss my notch back. Light and nimble with just enough power to get me into trouble. If I ran across a nice formula I would jump and then install a newer V6 but keep it as light as I could. Then I would slam that sucker so low to the ground I would have to slow down for ants
The only thing I wont do is kick the other cars out for it
So my vote new coupe

Aero Notchie. Oh, I love my GT, but I have a soft spot for Notchies.
I also really want a bare bones perfect condition 84 one day. There is a gentleman a few miles from me that purchased a 20,000 mile black 84, and i love the simplicity of it. I am not done modifying my GT just yet, and probably never will be, but I would like an as intended Fiero for ice cream cruises.
Choose what is in your heart. I am of little help.

The one thing I won't do is a fastback. No offense to anyone, some of the most beautiful modified Fieros have been fastbacks, and I love the taillamps. I just don't personally care for the sail panel design on them. Jellybean, bubble-butt, whatever you want to call them, it's just not my thing. Whatever I do, I will be a notchie. Just have to decide whether it's a coupe or aero notch.
I wonder...Has anyone put fastback taillamps into a notchback?

Not for this one. I've always wanted a widebody, and I'm working on something else kinda hush-hush, but this project will be almost daily driven, so I want to keep it kinda simple.
This is a pic I did years ago that better represents what the Coupe would end up looking like...
Thanks!

Looks like the Coupe is winning big here...
Cut the downturns off on the outer edges of the nose, so it lines up better without the skirts. Or just leave the skirts on always. Given you plan on doing body mods to it anyway, this one shouldn't be a huge deal.
Most people wouldn't even notice the difference anyway. Only people who are into them will know/mention it/care.

If you are really wanting a coupe I have a Blue 87 I would sell you for a real good price. I also have a damaged fast back section I was going to turn it into a notchback with fastback taillights. Like the ones on the purple pavement eater.

Well, like I said, I am thinking about making my GT into a notchback. This is what my green coupe looked like at one time. Like you, I love the notchy look too.

Not a bad idea, but if I go "Coupe", I want it to have that lean coupe look to it; no aero. ...And I'd know.

Hmmm....Define "Real good price". PM me some info, specs, pics, price?

That's how I still remember your car. LOVED it like this! Heck, thinking I was going to sell your old IMSA spoiler since I'd been away a while is what bit me with the bug again this time.
Seeing a few of these, I think I'll stick with some custom LED notchie tails. There was a guy on here years ago who had made some incredible ones. Found his thread earlier and tried to PM him. We'll see if he's still around.
I drool over your car. Everything about it is gorgeous. But of course I may have told you that before. I love it's stance, color combo, wheels, and just about every inch of her. I know, don't covet another's wife, but do cars count?

Nice, Archie! I thought this was a major pain, though? The new 'Vette tails would look great in there, too. I think I'm gonna just do a custom LED setup in the factory notch housings.
Seriously leaning towards late Coupe, like the white P'shop above with the custom bumper lights.
Try something a little different. Do a late coupe front end with a lower spioler and Aero sides and rear. Kind of like this combination of the 84 bumper pad front end with the aero rear end.

Unfortunately, the man who made those headlights (and designed the bumper in that pic) passed away in 2011 due to cancer. He stopped making the headlights serveral years prior to that but they still show up in the mall occasionally.
OOPS, my bad. Do you mean the lights from the new Stingray?
No prob. Yeah, wouldn't those be cool? Heck, if I won the lottery I'd try to contract Archie to make a complete mid-engine new Stingray kit on the Fiero.
OK, guys, I think I have it sorted out... I'm going to resurrect the "Formula IMSA" project I had laid out a few years back, with a few modifications...
Very similar to the pic I posted earlier, with different wheels, a new custom chin spoiler/splitter and a few other enhancements.
I figure it would cost well over $20K (maybe even $30K) by the time it's done with the swap and everything... So it's going to be a LONG road. I probably won't put up a "build thread" until well into it.
Thanks for your help! I'm going to start saving my nickels now.
