Putting together a complete parts list for my engine build. Pics of my engine can be seen here.

Out of a 98 regal. 3800 SC series II L67. 118k. Compression test is said to be at 160lbs per. going in my 87 fastback auto.

I want a mild build of the engine so I put together a parts list that I think is mostly complete. But that is why I am posting. If I am missing something please let me know what that is and if possible a source to find it. Of course any other suggestions are welcome too.

X-P Hot Cam $324.99
Rollermaster double timing chain $209.99
lifters $159.00 or these?
valve springs $139.99
modified retainers $99.99
machined oil pump cover $54.99
Front cover gasket x1 (if using cam kit, if not then x2) $8.99
Wiring Harness & PCM $400 ?
4t65e-hd trans or no HD? ? still need to source.
N* throttle body kit $349.99
valve cover gasket $19.99
cam install kit $129.99
motor mounts may fabricate myself
AC parts ?
cruise control ?
fuel pump $60.14
cat back exhaust ?
thermostat housing ?
power steering ?
oil filter adapter or relo kit ?
dog bone with bracket may fabricate myself
low mount alt bracket may fabricate myself
cold air intake may fabricate myself
axles passenger driver $500
battery relo kit ?
battery tray $45
fuel rails $225
missing from engine when I got it: starter, alternator and AC compressor

Just to clarify a bit. I live in texas so AC is a must. I also do want to entertain power steering as well but budget may or may not allow that.

So with that set up would you still recommend springs and retainers since my motor has 118k? and I am not sure if the machined oil pump cover is needed with the vs cam, looks like it is recommended with the XP one.
you dont recommend the Rollermaster double timing chain either?
here is a pic of my oil filter.

U will need a differant oil filter adaptor. No need for double roller, machined oil pump, retainers with VS.I would ecommend some 90# springs though and replacing timing chain/tensioer with stock replacement.

these springs?

or from another source? These look like you would need these retainers for it to work.

Those will work with the matched retainers. Seems like there was a set that did not require seperate retainers.

so the conversion of lines just means so they mate up to the new ac compressor?

Do you have anymore info on the electronic cruise option, I dont think I have come across this before. But I will also search a bit on it again.
Same with the thermostat housing...

Is the power steering not really feasible or are you saying that because of the time and money involved in doing such a mod. Not really talking about the experience of driving a non power car, more so on the capability of the addition. If it eventually falls into my budget I would like to add it to make the car a little more friendly to drive. I may at some point like to do autocross but I highly doubt that will happen so this will be just a driver to enjoy. (weekends, and daily driver to work etc)

Another question regarding the wiring harness. I have been searching for some good thread but prob not typing in the right thing. I am trying to figure out if I need both a fiero and buick core for the new one to be made? I will just be using the pcm from the new motor and not using the fiero one right?

You only use 12-15 wires from the Fiero harness.
Some will go to C500 *by batt.)and then some will go to C250(under console)

To get the A/C hose installed, you will need the part on the hose that fits on the back of the donner compressorand mate it up with the stock location of the Fiero. So you are just making a hose with stock Fiero on one end and stock 3800 compressor end on the other.

Don't forget the A/C pressure switch.
I think BMWGuru made mine up for me or a a/c shop can do it.

So I take it that is a simple swap on this engine since it is a 98 as well there arent any real variations to be worried about? Is it just a direct bolt on part or?
