So I was at a one of my customers shops and he has two 84s he is scrapping. He is only interested in the scrap and said I could have anything I wanted off the cars. If is still good what should I save off of them. Sorry the sail panels are mine

Most of the switches are unique to 84s....specifically the headlight switch and window switches (but others may also be, just don't remember). The 84s are black, the others are gray. If they happen to have the MY8 tranny, you will want to save that. Other than that, they aren't that much different from other years for scrap purposes. Most of the significant differences were wiring.

I know they are a pain to store and ship, but I had a heck of time finding a 4cyl coolant tube, so if they are in decent shape keep em.

take the windshield washer tank - it's more compact than the 86-88 and gives more room in the front trunk ...

also take the bracket that holds the ECM (computer) - guys use them for engine swaps when they use a different computer.

Take the vents out under the dash too....and the cables that pull them open. I just took them out of my 84 parts car and put them in my 86. Pull the vents, pop the sunroof and there is a nice breeze

It also seems that the computers are getting hard to find. I have been asking for one and only got a couple of responses. Also, finding a decent 84 engine wiring harness is like finding gold. The AC lines are 84 specific. (or at least I have been told) I wish I could find an 84 to pick parts off of. They are not as easy to come by.

A lot of people use to look for the 84 glass sail panels that were only on 84's.
