Yes this has been beaten to death in Tech section. Anyway... I would really appreciate some advice

I was changing the plugs on my 95 f250 this evening. Its not an easy job, because its got the 460 big block in it. its a huge engine, very little room!
All of them came out fine except one. With not even allot of force, it broke right in half. It broke off at the threads and the center of it is still in flush with the threads.
So basically im trying to figure out what to do.
Im thinking of drilling the middle out, then using an easy out. Which I know will work to get it out....

But what about all the crap that falls into the cylinder?

Anyone got any ideas? I really dont want to pull the head.

edit... lol maryjane

460 litres???? That is a biggun!!
I didn't have to drill, as all the porcelin and the electrode came out with the broken plug--just left the threads in there. Here's what was suggested to me, if anything was thought to have fallen inside the cylinder.

Not as bad as me the other day, putting the plugs back in my 99 mustang, and one of them stripped out the threads. No matter what I did, the plug wouldn't tighten, and I thought it was right, it seemed like it was perfect. Well worse came to worse, I mixed up some JB weld, put it around the threads on the plug, and cranked her in there. Worked like a charm. No problems (yet)

Anyways, soak that pup with some PB Blaster, then using a small drill bit, start drilling (if you have room), go down a few MM's, and keep making a straight line, till you have a slot... then use a big flat blade screw driver, with a big thick handle. Drill a hole through the center of the screw driver, and use another screw driver as a T-handle, stick her in, and see what you can do.

zMack - I cracked a plug in an older Volvo I had, porceline fell into the cylinder, OH $%^&#.
I used a vacuum cleaner hose and a piece of vacuum line or fuel line and using duct tape managed to secure it to the vacuum hose. Sticking the hose into the cylinder and moving it around, I got all the pieces out one at a time. Pulling the hose out, each time a piece of the porceline was stuck to the end of the hose. If you do the same thing and put a hankerchief over the hose end as it enters the vacuum canister and examine it several times as you "vacuum the cylinder", you should see what you have pulled out. Clean the hankerchief off each time and eventually it will not require cleaning - then you will know that you have gotten everything out. Ed

Good news! I fixed it...

I cranked the engine over, and that blew the ceramic part of the plug out. Then I wedged an easy out into the hole. After about two hours of messing around... it finally came out.

Allot of work, but nothin feels better then, Gettin' er done when your working on your pickup LOL

Good.
Just wondering......why would it not blow out if it had not broken. I still might try to rig up a vacume to it.
Not to worry you...just thinking.

the easy out took out the metal threaded parts fine, nothin fell nto the cylinder well
