<sigh> Getting really tired of city life. Makes me want my 20 acres and my Earthship REAL bad!

Thanks for the warm fuzzy (brief though it was)!

You sure they are Irises? Perhaps day lilies?? Either way, you can use a soft brush to cross pollinate them and come up with some really exotic varieties.

They are irises, there are tons of them all over my property too, they seem to bloom every Easter.

Sounds like you're getting that yard taken care of, I can't imagine how much work that must be (well, I kind of can because I know how long you've been working on it), but it's cool you're finding interesting things along the way.

My brother in law is and has been raising day lillies for years--many beautiful flowering plants, and has at least one variety he has named and registered.

On my property, I also have an odd occurance. A flowering plant, usually in groups of 5-10 will suddenly come up and bloom bright blue or purple. Randomly it seems. The locals tell me they are called "Johnny popups", or Popup Johnnys. They look similar to an iris, but taller.
