Have spoken with both maryjane and clamityjane (Don and Jane) several times today. They are safe and it does not appear they suffered much personal damage to their property but things are a mess in Cleveland TX.
Don and I just spoke, he asked to find out where the closest city to Cleveland TX was that had power and running water. They have neither and based on the amount of damage, they don't expect to have either one for quite a while. Anyone with such information, please let me know so that I can tell Don and Jane where to go. Thanks in advance.
Ron

Let them know if they need a place to stay... send them up to FW. Jennifer and I have some spare space. They may not want to be that far from home... but until the gubment lets people return and if they have no power and water... we'll I've been asking them to visit anyway
Send me a PM for my cell if they would like it.

I, Don and Jane appreciate the feedback. Don told me this morning that he really isn't looking for a place to stay, just a place that has electricity and running water. Says he has too many responsibilities to leave but would like to find a place to get some additional supplies and some hot coffee, ect....
The Cleveland Police and Fire are pretty much overwhelmed at this point but, we'll keep trying.

Don called me about 5 PM this afternoon. They are headed to his brothers place in Arkansas. Said they had to drive 145 miles to find functioning electrical power.
Life has it's challenges. Don and Jane are survivors.
Thanks Ron. I am indeed, at my brother's in Arkansas. They may not wear shoes here-but they are the land with electricity, running water, and available gasoline. This is how my brother is-- he has lost everything he had at Crystal Beach--probably even the lot itself, but has opened his home to Jane & I. More later.

Glad you found some electricity and you are doing well. We here in Cleveland, OH are feeling some of your pain. We lost power last night at my house around 6Pm and have not seen it since. our local electric company is paying for ice to keep our food and cold water too. Very nice of them.
hope you may return home soon!

Well I'm glad Jane is alright. I'll have to ponder wether or not I'm happy about Don's safety after a good nights sleep. Seriously I am happy to hear that both of you are safe.

And with all that going on at his end, Don was nice enough to call me to check up. Power finally came back on, here, about an hour ago, and I promised Don I'd call when that happened, but I thought that 11:15 p.m. would be a bit rude. So I'll call him tomorrow with the news. I'm hoping I can tell him that power's back on in his end of the world, too -- we're both on the same power company, and they were optimistic earlier today about linking in enough external supply to bring everyone back on line within a day or two. But as we learned after Rita, power right now doesn't mean you'll have power tomorrow, so we'll see.

I just got a call from a guy that works with FEMA, (yeah this late). Wanted to know if we could send 40 trucks from KC to the Astrodome full of ice! They must be in bad shape to send ice 750 miles.

Excellent news. Glad to hear that you're back in the land of luxury. OK, you've got power back on, it's nice when it's on.

Are you going to fill up 40 reefers with ice? (I don't know how else you'd make it 750 miles without turning into water.) Will they let you run heavy? Might be a good money maker for your company if you can do it. Can your trucks pull a(n) 60k or 80k # load? What's it worth to FEMA? Seems like they should pay since they've screwed everything else up. Specifically, I'm thinking poisonous Katrina trailers and their lack of speed.

You can view Hurricane Ike damage in Google earth by downloading a layer file . Using the transparency slider you can toggle back and forth from Pre Ike to current damage.

Yes the majority of our trailers are refers. We can haul 80K gross. The rate was pretty good but its up to the big heads to see if we'll do it or not. Will know when I go back in tonight.

Little do you realize that you can probably name your own price---and get it!!
