oklahomas weather is still f'ked up. 78 one day, 40 the next. i got a garage at my apartmemts so i could work on my car a lot more. but i can not since its just as cold in the garage. so ive been in search of a space heater (electric) that will warm a 1 car garage decently. currently i am using this 18.88 dollar one i got from wally world last year. its total crap. at the 1500w setting, its only blowing slightly warm air. i want HOT air.
this Harbor Freight one sounds good, but at the price and size, i dont think it will do much. does anyone have any experience with this one? or think it will work?
im looking for a decent space heater for around 75 bux. any info helps a ton!

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem

All that will do is blow cold air. 'fits up to 15,000 btu' to me means its just a fan.

I have one of those little ceramic cube heaters in that range, and its about useless unless you are literally sitting on it.

electric heaters wont do anything excpet run up your electric bill till you move up to a large 220 volt one. If your doing mechanical work, get yourself a smaller salamander type kerosene heater. DONT use it if your doing body and paint work though. The little electric ones are lucky to heat up a bathroom.

If you don't like the noise/smell of the salamander/torpedo heaters, try a "Mr. Heater"
http://www.northerntool.com..._200332705_200332705
We have had a couple of them for years and they work pretty good to knock the chill off a cold shop.
If you end up with a kerosene torpedo heater, be aware that most of them will run with off road diesel fuel at about half the cost of kerosene.

Keep in mind that with any combustion heater you could wake up dead in a closed area.
A friend of mine decided to bring his 'Hibachi' inside during a rainstorm.
Closed the doors............. RIP Bart Downs.
I miss you.

You do have to be careful, but a salamander thats running right isnt that bad. I have a buddy whos had a shop as long as I have and thats his only source of heat. He does have to get the place hot first to paint, then everything wiped down good with prepsol so it wont fisheye. Then turns it off to paint. You should have a monoxide detector too. Open a door or window a little for fresh air.

This one /\ is just a blower (a fan)--no heat output at all.

"Heater cycling at 50%. Watts: 1500 Volts: 120V Amps: 12.5 BTUs:"
--1500 watts--12.5 btu. That ain't much heat. My wife's hair dryer is 1800 watts.

Check to make sure you can get kerosene in your area. Also, the salamander heaters are really loud. I am going to look for a smaller heater for my garage. I can use the sal. to heat it up quick then use the smaller heater to keep it warm. I see Big Lots is selling a Reddy propane heater for around $60. You may want to check that out.

THIS ONE is what I use. One butane/propane bottle (14kg) 12 euros lasts me for 60-80 hours. I always use it with at least one door open It is even better if you use an adjustable regulator. Bit noisy...but what garage tool isn't?
