[schrill voice] Oh no ! What was i thinking ?[/schrill voice] heh, with the oil market being what it is, it is gonna be tough to get another one. So what, ? With the economy the way it is.........wait ! I am the economy.
Been there, done that, twice in the past 2 years. It got increasingly harder to find another job each time. But, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

So the fuse you set gives you enough time to be well away from the oil fields?

Thanks for the wishes of luck. Which I believe we make ourselves.

I understand what you are saying. However, it is neither. It is what it is and what I make of it. I have seen many reports of people being scared (job losses, mortgages, credit, the economy) I though I would post my news for y'all to see one man that is not scared. Should I have waited to get another job before I quit ? Didn't want to. Am I economically set to weather unemployment ? Not exactly. I have learned in my life how to survive. I am innovative, resourceful, and determined. I look upon this as a challenge.

Rock Project ? That is so far down on the honey do list that I don't think so. I still collect here and there but I have missed many a golden opportunity for the mother load. First thing I plan to do is take some days off, maybe two weeks. I sure would hate to get a job right away.

Why? Because I dream ? You can dream also, it is allowed. Why? Because I believe ? A little harder to do but, just as believing in a higher power, all you have to do is try it to find out that it works. Why? Because I made a bone headed decision ? I did. Why? Because I am not scared ? Well, I am not but, fear never solved anything. It actually prohibits many people from achieving. Why? Because that I believe that I am the economy ? Well, I am. I can only be concerned with what I can affect. We will see how this pans out. I am not really sure that I still want to work the oil fields. I will pick and choose a couple of companies that I want to work for but I am not gonna look too hard. The money is good but.....,life ain't about money. I used to enjoy my job. I still like the work but the is getting too deep. I have other attributes of which make me employable. I enjoy working with my hands and have bought many a tool. Of all trades. I am thinking that I would like to start my own business. I am thinking that I might want to get hired on as a welder (never welded a bead in my life). So I can learn how to be one since I recently bought a Miller Bobcat 250 and also own a MIG welder. Also thinking about carpentry work. I need more experience. There is good money in storage sheds...picnic tables...heck, my wife just bought a dog house for my doberman for $200.00 (yes, I was pissed). I might even become "Joe the Plumber", .

Actually, I had a job offer being a male stripper. It did not pay enough and I do not feel like sandblasting and painting, . Seriously, I just looked at select jobs. I am my own union. I did not get in the front door but I know my way around back.

Well I still have all those ideas you PM’ed me for welding Cliff.
BBQ grills for the hitches, tables.
Good place to start.

I gave notice at my job last night, but they fired my problem for me. I'm glad i'm not looking again. It's a pain in the a$$. Go for it Cliff. You can have the adventure for both of us.

Well, I coasted through the holidays. Got a lot of stuff done, made good use of my time. Painted my 87 FieroGT, raked leaves forever (I have 50+ trees), did some stuff for my Mom in Corpus Christi, built a 10X10 shed, etc etc. Looked a little for an oil field job but the market is tight just now. Had a few local job offers, turned them down (I would hate to start a job then quit for an oilfield job). Could have gotten on one with a friend then got laid off for unemployment benefits but did not. I did sell my 83 CJ7 Jeep but still have my 85CJ7. Ran up a little debt but I did not miss a beer, . Eh, it's time to get a job. I have a phone interview with Blattner at noon today. Interesting company. Here in Texas they are putting up windmills which generate electricity. Wind farms. I have been seeing the components going down the highway quite a bit. One blade ships by itself and is 90' long. The components are usually in convoys. Not sure if I will take a job with them, for several reasons. Still no worries here, I can make it till Obama gets in office, .

Never quit, lol...get fired so you can take unemployment.
Jobs at least around here are hard to come by. I looked around at a few places for a little gravy job I could do part time, just to keep from being bored. Nothing. A retired friend of mine got a part time job driving rental cars around for Enterprise. That would be kind of fun, just takes cars from one outlet to another, picks up new ones at dealer. Makes about $75 a day.

Depends! Your former employer may see fit to keep you from drawing unemployment if they see want to. My dad fired a SORRY employee that wouldn't do anything and he tryed to get unemployment but couldn't because they called his former employer and got the truth.

I see those blades coming in and out of a plant up here in Gainsville all the time. I guess they repair/refinish them. I like to see the transporters making their turns with those steerable trailer axles. Looks like it takes a bit of skill/practice

They have these in West Virginia, where my Grandfather lives. They actually have to shut down the highway in order to get these blades and motor up the mountain. Can you imagine one of those 90' blades going up a winding mountain road. The motor on one of those things is almost as big as my house.

I designed that to send a resume & cover letter with one click to any CL job listing with an email address in it. Let me know if you want to use it and need some help.

Many thanks, . I appreciate it. Though I have not looked at it yet. I have dug me a hole. It is time to quit digging. So, I better not coast till after the Super Bowl. I have a plan, . I am gonna go to the beer joints. Seriously, after a day at work, a roughneck wants to get away from the rig. Get something to eat, get a beer, play some pool/whatever. I need to meet first person with who I might work with. They will send me to the company hiring office. AKA.......

The windmill job looks good and I can get on. I was offered a job. Pay was ok but the hours were not great, being that it is away from home. I have really not hunted too hard at home. I did not want to start a job and quit when an oilfield job came about. I would rather work the oil fields.

Comes with the territory Cliff. When I was working construction I would be working one job and always end up away from home for days and sometime weeks on end.
I never like it ether.
As far as changing jobs I did that to. A job came up with better pay for a longer duration and me and my tools were out of there.
Good luck.

Yeah, the territory I tread upon. Which is still my choice.

It ain't about the pay. How much money do I need ? That last full moon....the biggest, brightest, closest, ..... I was laying in my yard on a hill looking at it. Actually, trying to reflect upon my situation (which I did). I decided that life sucks, . I kept on thinking "why am I happy?". I figure it is because we make it so. We can wahh wahh wahh all we want but, we have it good. We just don't have it as good as we want. I am laying there, on that hill. My hill, . About the only thing that I do not have is a job. If I were to lose all, so what. Life is not about having, it is about living. Do I need to have, to be happy ? NO, NOT AT ALL. I think greed goes beyond money and things. I will be working next week.

Word here is the oilfield will pick up in march. THANK GOD I took that Directional job with a co truck and salary. I have only worked 9 days since October 28th. Every rig I ever worked on is stacked out right now. The rig I quit for the new job was one of the first to go. (Frontier 10) I looked into wind farm jobs in Wyoming but the pay is lower than worms corner and I would have to relocate to Evanston, Wy. Not going to happen..I'll tough it out. I think the title was Wind Turbine Tech...??
Best wishes Cliff.

When does Obama start redistributing the beer ? . Things are tightening but so what? I ain't took no handout, I have not missed a payment, I have not missed a beer. Four months, no job. I do not see what's so hard with all the losers taking bailouts. Especially the ones still naming stadiums after their companies, the ones buying other banks, the ones going on junkets. I don't see why the gubment wants to bail out these same losers. Especially the Dumbocrats that hate the wealthy. Ohh, right, they need to be wealthy so we can redistribute the beer. Many got caught up in the good times. Times are better than they might get. PLAN, PLAN NOW, ! No fear gloom or doom here. We are the economy. We can not spend our way out of this mess. It was said, "one man, one vote". Vote with your wallet. I want our direction to fail and I want it to fail soon. That is the answer to success. ehh, rant off.
