Ok, I'm going to let you all in on a little "Haus" secret. We have a mascot. If you go through the Haus of Guru thread, you may be able to find "him" lurking in the background on various pics. Usually, I put "him" in the background at least once per swap. The only ones that know about this are the Haus employees, the owners of the swaps, and KYunderdawg. Here is our mascot, Winkie.
Anyway, the employees over at the local Advance Auto saw Winkie and thought it would be funny to prank one of their delivery drivers. They asked me to "wear" winkie when we got our next delivery. Here is the said pic for reference.
I acted like there was nothing abnormal. Just pretended it wasn't there. Well, maybe it was a bad idea, but the employees at Advance thought it was a funny prank.....it fits my personality, but the driver went to the corporate HQ to file complaints. Needless to say, I have been banned from Advance Auto. I'm not so heartbroken though. I took my wife's VR6 Fiero and my V8 Fiero to their car show and I lost to a Honda Civic for "Best Modification". Anynuttin, enjoy..... Dave
That's retarded. First, its not like you work, or were in advance auto. They came to your place of business to drop off product. Your house? Your rules.
Second, people need to lighten the **** up. You're a mechanic, not a doctor, therefore you are allowed to have a little fun in your day.

That's funny. It is almost a crime to have an unusual sense of humor anymore.
Doing something like that in your workplace could easily get you a sexual harassment suit and cost you your job. Luckily Dave doesn't work for Advance Auto, so they can't really do much other than refuse to do business with him.

I think the employees over at Advance Auto know more about the driver than what is lead to believe. It might be that the workers have done similar pranks to the driver before. College pranks are in some cases okay, but once money and a business is involved it's totally different outcome. The driver possibly could file a complaint against the local Advance Auto and/or report it to a local news station and use this thread as evidence.

Hmm, they put him up to it, sorta. So, they have a choice. They can turn away a customer (likely a good one by whatever standards) or they can turn away someone who actually wants to work with them, the delivery service. I know who I would turn away.

I finally get my computer back in order so I can post at home again and this is what I see first. C'mon, don't tell me that I'm the only forum member that noticed the fuzzy siloute in the background of certain shots.
I am suprised that you got what ya got with that prank up there. I thought you all were more laid back in Jorsey. There weren't any kids or women in the place when this mascot of yours showed itself, were there?
Edit: This happened in your shop? Private property then, but still....I hope your kids weren't around . I thought you went into Advanced with this thing .
Edit, edit: Dave.......you ain't right.

Dave I love it. Anyone who has the Balls to do that to a delivery driver has a GREAT sense of humor.
Now on to Advance Auto, they have got to have more than one driver, most of the parts stores around here do, even the small ones do. The driver wasn’t a woman, or a fag was it? I could maybe understand their attitude then but WTF it was a joke in your own shop.
You have got to do a lot of business with them, knowing the work you do. So I would think they would overlook it. Or do you care?

Yes it's an up tight world. When I was in the parts biz the old traditional holiday gift to the shops was the eye candy calender. We began to get letters from the corporate owned shops giving notice that if we provided such a "gift" to a shop or employee they would immediately close their accounts with us. The shop feared that they would be held responsible for a "hostile work enviroment" and subject to legal action if an employee found the content of the calender offensive. You just can't joke anymore outside of your own home. Someone will get pissed off and come after you with a lawsuit.

I had a blast reading all the comments. ....and yes, there is quite a story as to why we have a flaccid rubber penis in my shop, but that one we will have to share over a pint in person. As for the Advance Auto workers.....well, I guess they realized that I had the same sick sense of humor as them...as yes, they were all female. They wanted to prank their co worker and thought it would all be a joke that they would laugh about. I can't disclose all the details because there are people at Advance that could get in more trouble if I leak more than I should. I am still allowed to order parts from their store and I am only not allowed to go to their store for the next seven days.....not that I ever pick up stuff myself. So, things are quite normal again at the Haus....... Dave
You may not have heard the last of this. If there is a pattern of sexual harassment at the driver’s work place, this may just be one instance named at a future trial. If the supervisor is aware of this activity going on and does nothing to stop it, he/she can be charged. I’ve seen “all in good fun” pranks turn into lawsuits and it isn’t humorous at all for anyone involved.

If you won't tell us how you ended up with your mascot, can you tell us how the nice ladies at Advance found out about him?
One of the workers (who's ex husband owns a Fiero) came by the Haus to check out stuff. She happened to show up when Winkie happened to be on my tool box. She has a great sense of humor and it was no problem. That is how the ideas for the prank started. I'm not worried about a lawsuit....I don't get the impression it will go that far. Besides, no one except me and my employees are supposed to be in my work area without permission. That is what the waiting room is for. Dave

I like to have fun and enjoy myself when I work. I have to make sure that the people working for me can handle a joke......here is a pic of Ryan showing he can handle working for me.
