So you have a Holden Commodore SS Ute and, for some vexing reason, you want it to look more like the American-market Chevrolet Camaro. Well, we've got good news for you. An enterprising young soul from Victoria, Australia has worked up just such a kit. With new sheetmetal from the A-pillar forward and a custom Camaro nose cap, the end result is as close to a Camaro-meets-El-Camino mutation as you're likely to find. This particular example was spotted outside of a Nashville, Tennessee tuner.
We have to say that while the Commodore SS Ute is as handsome as can be right from the factory, the Camaro nose doesn't exactly do the car an injustice. There's no word on exactly how much the conversion kit will set you back, though with all of the appropriate pieces and sheetmetal, we'd be surprised if the final price tag were less than $5,000 – before paint. Worth it? That's a conversation you'll have to have with your wallet.
http://www.autoblog.com/201...%7C6%7Clink4%7C27416 ******************************** I really like this conversion. Not that I could afford it but, it gets a from me. Pics are available at the provided link. Sorry, PIP just doesn't work for me. If this or these pics have been previously posted, then I apologize in advance but, I looked and didn't see anything.

Interesting. Nice looking, even. Not that I would run out and buy one. But then, I wouldn't run out and buy either of the vehicles that went into the making, either.

Steve, Until GM pays back all that taxpayer money I wouldn't either but, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate some fine work by an Aussie.

Lauren Engineering makes a "Camaro" kit for the 78-87 El Camino. I always thought it would be really cool to have one:
Can't remember where but, I've seen one of these and it was very impressive. I also remember seeing an El Camino with a Smokey and the Bandit Pontiac T/A front end at a Darryl Starbird carshow in Wichita, KS once. It was very cool.
Edited: I remember talking to the builder of the Bandit Camino, he said it was one hell of a lot of work getting all those panels to match up but, it was very cool.
