Just bought one of these...hope it works as well as it looks

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eB...geName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Can also modify speedometer mileage The Nissan Primera only had 38.000 miles on it, but the speedo didn-t work. The secondhand one reads 311.427 kilometres I will only rewind it to the last inspection mileage, because that was when it was last used. Nothing dishonest, I promise

Cool you can even reset the odometer, now that is going to be popular with used car dealers. One question, how much is that in dollars? £9.49 + £7.99 in postage.

And will Bluetooth work on my home computer?

I am planning on buying one of these. My phone has a diagnostic app the uses this adaptor via Bluetooth. The app is available thru the Andriod Market and its called "Torque" if anyone is curious.

I may need one of those since it's hard to find a laptop with a serial connector anymore to match the one I have. But the ones with a readout are just a few bucks more and more convenient so I don't know which to buy.

edit: The phone ap may be the way to go but then I'd need a new phone. My daughter was scanning bar codes with hers last week. It's amazing what they can do.

I got mine in the mail a few days ago. The application on my phone works flawlessly. I got the exact same one you did Nick. It feels kind of cheap (Which it is, I only paid $27 for it) but it works great. Did you get yours Nick?

Yes Craig. Mine arrived after a 4 week wait, only to be disappointed . The plug does not fit ANY of the cars I needed it for Apparently, the European versions of Daewoo, Nissan and Renault all have their own systems and sockets, and although the ad. says it will work with them, there is no way to get the plug to fit in. I had hoped to get Ellie's Daewoo working with it, and sell it to raise funds, but it still remains a boat anchor in the back garden Glad it worked for you though...that is great!! The seller immediately agreed to refund me, but the postage would have been almost as much as the refund value, so I'll either keep it for when I get another car to repair that it DOES fit, or maybe put it up on eBay

Funny this thread should resurface right now! I used it for the first time the other day on a neighbour's car, which just kept stopping intermittently. I checked physically first to see if it was fuel or electrical, by spraying easy-start into the air intake. Ran perfectly untiI I stopped spraying. So I knew it was fuel related. Remembered I had the OBDII interface in my office, got it out, loaded the disc that came with it, fired up the bluetooth...and it told me straight away the fuel pump was running erratically, and I told her to take it to a shop to get the fuel pump replaced. (No way I was going to drain out 8 gallons of gas, take down the fuel tank, remove the fuel pump, buy a new one and fit it for her, when I wasn't sure she could pay me ) It is still sitting in the street outside
Nick
PS...I will wait until she asks me if I can do it...I need the money desperately...but I don't need to do the work and not get paid. If she asks, I will have to bite the bullet and possibly insult her, by asking for the money up front. She is a student, first car, and I doubt she will have 300 euros lying around to pay for it...backed up by the fact that it is still sitting outside

It should work with anything Bluetooth that can run the necessary software.

Which software are you running? It came with several and I'm not happy with any of them so far...

OBD II sure has gotten more complex since it was first implemented. Now there are five possible communications protocols and two different DLC’s: https://www.scantool.net/su...&kbarticleid=3&nav=0

Most of the newer scan tools should be backward compatible and can handle all the variations. Here is a diagram from the above link that shows the connector pin differences:

Here’s a flow chart of how the OBD II diagnostic software should work:
