Serves the rich bastards right for installing a pool during a recession
Man thats got to suck, if they get lucky they may only have to replace the roof. But if it was my house they would be restoring it back to new.

Given the thread title, I wasn't sure what to expect. Then the video title didn't help, so I clicked on it. Hmmm. Crane. Lifting heavy object, and reaching really far. This isn't going to end well. That crane operator will be answering a LOT of questions.

I think DagNabbit is much funnier.
quote The crane company, Truck Crane Service, told the homeowner, who did not want to be interviewed, that a computer error is to blame for the mishap. They said there was a lot of margin between the pools weight, and what the crane could handle.
I wonder if they told him a bedtime story about the Easter bunny, too.

Sorry, Cliff. It's not covered by the forum censor thing, didn't think you'd object. Anyway, the reason I used that is that is what someone was yelling in the video.

But the computer said.
Looks to me like someone miss calculated the boom length and pool weight at that length. Having worked around boom trucks for nearly 20 years I know just a little bit about them.
The further out the boom reaches the more weight is on it. I forget the formula but I am sure some of you college boys will pipe in.
We are way to dependant on computers. Anyone remember slide rules? A computer calculated the factors of the boom length, weight of the pool gets more as the boom extends. Then it looks to me like no one ever thought to put weight on the frt end of the boom truck. And at that length it gets real heavy. The boom could handle the weight, the truck wasn’t heavy enough.

That sucks. That crane operator's insurance is going to go up. I am glad no one was killed.
