We just got an email that the local Anti-nuke demonstrators will be dressing up like Zombies and protesting in front of my work place on Friday because of a new nuclear plant we are building.
This should make for an interesting day... I'll try to get pics!

Just curious: Is this new nuclear plant actually under construction, or just on paper? Is it in the U.S. or ..? Main purpose is generating commercial electricity?

Ok, it is public.. It is the partially completed Belefonte Nuclear plant in Hollywood Alabama. The plan is to finish it up and have it running by 2018. It is supposed to be a state of the art nuclear plant when completed.
I don't care at all if they protest.. I am looking forward to seeing them dressed up as zombies. But as I understand, the last time they did this, a security guard was attacked by several protestors and put in the hospital.
Now, I should also add, I am not a fan of Nuke plants either... But I need to make a living and this is the best company in the area to work for. I was VERY fortunate to get this job.
This time around, the building will be locked and the protestors have said they will stay off our property and remain on public land. So i hope it goes smoothly.

I give them credit for exercising their right to protest, but....why zombies? Do zombies and nuclear power have some correlation I'm unaware of?
And good luck with the job. From what I hear, people working in those plants bank because of the risk involved.
Well apparently they are trying to suggest a nuclear fallout will make us all Zombies!
And yea, Nuclear workers make GOOD money due to cancer risks. My family has already paid dearly. My grandmother and grandfather both contracted bone cancer, due to working with beryllium in the early days. My grandmother did not survive. My grandfather is still fighting it. Plus their two daughters contracts various cancers, my aunt's oldest girl has cancer. My brother was born mentally retarded as well. All of which has re suggested to be linked to my grandparents early exposures.

sounds like zombies to me.
On a ore serious note: If you can, i would ride in with someone else or take a cab. Wouldn't want my car being beat up.
No worries about my car... I bought a private parking spot in an underground garage a block from work. We are right smack dab downtown, so there is very little open parking. Just lots of garages around the area.

This is great news! I am glad a new nuclear plant is being built. We need to replace our old ones and increase the capacity.
As far as the protesters, I hope they have fun. I don't think they will accomplish much. Today's protesters don't seem to know that the protest itself is only the tip of the iceberg. They have to do a lot more before and after the actual protest to have any effect. They will show up, run around as zombies, then go home and forget about it.
I would make sure discrete sprinklers are in the appropiate area ,,not talking the dribble sprinkler, but maximun blast force,, turned on at the correct time when they need releaf from hot sweaty marching Please please do not scatter the long roofing nails the same color as ground.to late to capture skunk(roofing nails, cheap at home depot) old fish heads left out in Sun,then thinly covered ,provide proper GREEN anti nuclear marching odor a counter sign with nuclear power provides cheap power with a "glowing" happy child is politically correct what would Gengis Khan or Stalin do??
